@skdh No. It's only mirroring back to them. Sometimes I have thought my PC is maliciously thwarting me, but we are very good at anthropomorphism as a species, like we often see faces in toast. It doesn't mean it's true though

In a recent survey, a solid majority (67%) assigned some level of consciousness to ChatGPT. Interestingly enough, the more they were using it, the more consciousness they assigned to it. What do you think? Is GPT conscious or not? Paper: academic.oup.com/nc/article/202…

These modular cells were added very quickly to a Suffolk prison last year. Questions must be asked why more could not be deployed within the next 6 weeks, to avoid early release of criminals serving less than half of their sentence gov.uk/government/new…

U.S. manufacturing is in deep trouble because modern U.S. executives treat firms as financial products rather than firms. Artificially balanced "firms" optimized to look good on financial metrics do not sustain traditions of knowledge nor infrastructure. They are dead players.

A UK University has just introduced a mandatory cyber-security course. For all staff and associates. Online, takes 20-30 mins. And has to be taken annually. Is this a sensible policy?
