@hmckee53 It really depends on conference governance. I'm warming up to @ImmaculateView idea of the ACC becoming a school of privates headed by ND. Let's see how the dominoes fall.

Good explanation of the Lord's prayer
Chad Bird@birdchadlouis

Why in the Lord’s Prayer do we ask our heavenly Father not to lead us into temptation? God tempts no one (James 1:13), so why make that kind of request? The mistake we make is that we do not view the full thought within the prayer. Jesus does not simply say, “Lead us not into temptation.” He continues: “but deliver us from evil.” That is crucial. Asking God not to do something, but instead to do something else, is a pattern of prayer firmly established in the Psalms, and that pattern is continued in the Lord’s Prayer. This is why praying the Psalms is so crucial. The Lord’s Prayer is, in many ways, a digest of all 150 psalms. If we do not hear it with psalm-shaped ears, we will misunderstand it. In the Psalms, we repeatedly see this “not this, but this” form: “O Lord, do not be far off; come quickly to my aid” (Ps. 22:19) “Do not forsake me, O Lord… make haste to help me” (Ps. 38:21–22) “Do not deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries… have regard for the covenant” (Ps. 74:19–20) “Do not incline my heart to any evil… set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth” (Ps. 141:4; 141:3) Sometimes the negative comes first, sometimes the positive, but together they form one complete thought. O Lord, do not do this, but do that. That same pattern is at work in the Lord’s Prayer. “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil” is not two separate ideas. You cannot take either part in isolation. Together they form a single request: Father, do not let us fall into temptation, but instead rescue us and deliver us from evil. God is not going to tempt anyone. Rather, we are praying that he would preserve us, guard us, and deliver us from any evil that may harm us or lead us into what is contrary to his will. That is what we are asking: rescue us, deliver us from every evil of body and soul. And we understand this only when we hear the Lord’s Prayer through the voice of the Psalms. _____ We read Matthew 6 today in Bible in One Year. Join us at any time at 1517.org/oneyear

Many have said they have died, gone to heaven, and returned. They write books, make money from interviews, and receive “love offerings” from telling people about their experiences in local churches. But what does the Word of God say about the truthfulness of their being raised from the dead? “When a cloud vanishes, it is gone, So he who goes down to Sheol does not come up. “He will not return again to his house, Nor will his place know him anymore." (Job 7:9–10) “If a man dies, will he live again? All the days of my struggle I will wait Until my change come” (Job ). “As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. When the wind has passed over it, it is no more, And its place acknowledges it no longer." (Psalm 103:15–16) “And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment." (Hebrews ) The exceptions to this rule occurred during three limited time periods, in limited geographical areas, by a limited group of people. A very few during these time periods and places, were raised from the dead, by a very limited group of people. They experienced healing type resurrections i.e, were raised from the dead to die again. Elijah the prophet raised Widow of Zarephath’s son (1 Kings 17:17–24). Elisha the prophet raised the Shunammite woman’s son (2 Kings 4:18–37) and an unnamed man (2 Kings 13:20–21). Jesus raised the widow of Nain’s son (Luke 7:11–17), Jairus’ daughter (Mt. -26; Mark 5:35–43; Luke -56), Lazarus (John 11:1–44). And when Jesus died, many departed saints were raised from the dead in Jerusalem and appeared to many (Matthew 27:52–53). The Apostle Peter raised Tabitha (Dorcas) (Acts 9:36–42). The Apostle Paul raised Eutychus (Acts 20:7–12). Four people since the creation of the world were given the ability to raise people from the dead. Jesus, the fifth person, being the Creator and God of life in human flesh always had the ability to raise people from the dead. Do not be deceived by peddlers, hucksters, and hawkers of the Word of God (2 Cor. ). All God produced miracles authenticate the messenger of the Word of God, Jesus as Messiah, or those who proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. Any so-called experience that contradicts the Word of God is false (Isa. ). "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord," neither shall he live by experiences (Deut. 8:3; Mt. 4:4; Lk. 4:4). We have the Word of God that is "more sure" than experiences and we "do well to pay attention to it as a lamp shining in a dark place" (2 Pet. -21). We have the holy Scriptures which equip us for every good deed (2 Tim. -17) and grant to us everything pertaining to life and godliness (2 Pet. 1:3). All experiences must be evaluated by the Word of God (1 Thess. ; 1 Jn. 4:1). Remember, Satan in these last days gives people experiences, signs, wonders, to lead them away from the truth of the gospel but never towards it (Mt. ; Mk. ; 2 Thess. 2:8-12; Rev. ). Beware of those who focus on "experiences" rather than the gospel of Jesus Christ, who don't proclaim the virgin born (Mt. -25) and sinless Son of God (Lk. ; Jn. 6:69; 2 Cor. ; Heb. ; ), crucified for sinners (Rom. ; 5:6, 8; ; Eph. 5:2), dead, buried, resurrected from the dead (1 Cor. 15:1-4; Rev. ), and returning in glory to judge the living and the dead (2 Thess. 1:6-10; 2 Tim. 4:1; Rev. -16). “Gather yourselves and come; Draw near together, you fugitives of the nations; They have no knowledge, Who carry about their wooden idol And pray to a god who cannot save. “Declare and set forth your case; Indeed, let them consult together. Who has announced this from of old? Who has long since declared it? Is it not I, the Lord? And there is no other God besides Me, A righteous God and a Savior; There is none except Me. “Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other. “I have sworn by Myself, The word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness And will not turn back, That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance. “They will say of Me, ‘Only in the Lord are righteousness and strength.’ Men will come to Him, And all who were angry at Him will be put to shame." (Isaiah 45:20–24) "Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way And the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the Lord, And He will have compassion on him, And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.” (Isaiah 55:6–7) "Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of the people, if we are on trial today for a benefit done to a sick man, as to how this man has been made well, let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by this name this man stands here before you in good health. “He is the stone which was rejected by you, the builders, but which became the chief corner stone. “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:8–12) “Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.” (Acts 17:30–31) @anchorbiblelou

Big Ten information and news
Not a political post. Yes streaming can pay more, but is it the smart move? Casual football fans, which makes up the majority of all college football fans, live paycheck to paycheck and the easier it is to find the games, the more viewers you will have.
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

asked if the NFL is price gouging, Trump instead rants about the kickoff rule and them absurdly claims that viewers are paying "$1,000 a game" to watch the sport on TV

@Genetics56 Moving to 24 also opens the door for the B1G and SEC to expand to even larger numbers imo. Unless they do something stupid like 4 auto bids for each P4

Big Ten information and news
If the 24-team CFP becomes reality, then the power of influence has officially shifted from the SEC to the Big Ten. Fwiw, is 24 teams too many? Yes. Does it weaken the season meaning? Yes. Do schools/coaches want the conf title games anymore? No. It is what it is.

From the beginning of the world to the resurrection of Christ, God appointed the seventh day of the week to be the weekly Sabbath; and the first day of the week, ever since, to continue to the end of the world, which is the Christian Sabbath.

My husband was divorced (he didn’t initiate) and remarried me. I was divorced (marital unfaithfulness) and remarried him. Apparently I’m committing adultery because of this reason? Is this truly what the Bible says/means.. how would a couple navigate this? This is blowing my mind.
bitcoinprincess@lilbernadette

@WonderWomaNinja @grok In this case, you’re committing adultery with someone else’s spouse. Do you get to keep them when they still belong to another?

@WonderWomaNinja Depends, were they playing it before you joined? Words theologically correct, music directs your focus to worship God-not your emotions...not all Christian music is suitable for congregational singing (neither are all hymns)

Just because it’s in the Bible doesn’t mean it applies to you.. case in point, I grew up singing a song with this in it, but it wasn’t for me. This wasn’t my promise. If it were, boy, what an assurance of earthly safety!! “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” Isaiah 43:1-3 ESV
