Why do we use “person with a disability/disabled person” in our bio description on Twitter? It’s simple - our members choose how they want to identify, and we as an organization don’t get to say what is right or wrong as an identity.

There can be no justice for disabled people until it includes all disabled people and all disabled people at every intersection of disability.

It would be nice if someone else other than disabled people would also advocate & fight for access, accommodation, rights, freedom & justice for disabled people. Unfortunately, too often, disabled people have to wage this fight ourselves. If we don’t do it, it will not get done.

Reminding my #ActuallyAutistic comrades that you aren’t broken, too much, loud, quiet, overly dramatic, or other words thrown at you by others. People tell you those things because of their own inability and intolerance, their own lack of desire to understand you. I see you.

Forced psych hospitalization has notoriously poor patient outcomes. However, these 5150 holds *do* allow politicians & cops to "clean up" cities & remove unhoused people without actually having to provide shelter, housing, or other essential resources. #CripTheVote @GavinNewsom

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed a bill that makes it easier for authorities to compel treatment for people with mental illness or addiction issues. apnews.com/article/califo…

In honour of #WorldMentalHealthDay, I thought I’d share with you some self-care ideas that I’ve collated specifically with autistic people in mind (many of which non-autistic people may find helpful as well). What helps you when you’re feeling low? 💙⬇️

A big part of executive dysfunction is not having control over what tasks our brains focus on or for how long. Sometimes it's struggling to get started, sometimes it's not being able to stop, and other times it's not completing the task before our brains gives up on it

No one wants “a life on benefits.” No one “chooses” not to be able to work. People get sick. And then they are forced to live in grinding poverty whilst exhausted and in pain - and watch rich, healthy ministers knowingly lie about the easy life these scroungers have chosen.

it is very clear that the vast majority of people still genuinely think that adhd is just a minor annoyance and it’s like no my brain physically never stops, i am unable to do things, i am constantly overwhelmed, it’s not just “no big deal” !!!!!!
