I've been surprised by how much negativity there is surrounding Derrick James. I thought he did a terrific jab in improving Jermell Charlo. Won three welterweight belts with Spence. Did a nice job with Frank Martin. Won my Trainer of the Year twice.

OK, a serious "hot take", no trolling... Muhammad Ali clinched, held and fouled A LOT, particularly in his biggest fights. To my knowledge, he was never penalized a single point for it in his entire career. The American media and fans, who have crucified other fighters for similar tactics, never seemed to mind Ali's excessive clinching and fouling. For one example, according to counts, he held Frazier 133 times in their rematch, often pulling his head down by the neck. Yet referee Tony Perez did not give him a single warning. Many of you have never really watched those fights, you've just seen movies and read books. The reality is, a lot of those bouts were a hard watch.

What's your biggest hot take in boxing? I'll go first, Bud's resume so overrated.

Agree that Robinson was much better P4P. My thing with Ali is that, while I recognize he had amazing feats in the ring, he's taken on a God-like status where you're not allowed to be critical at all. Fact is, he was soundly defeated by a 5'10" brawler, who he was only able to defeat with excessive fouling, a year AFTER he had been flattened in two rounds by Foreman. Ali also won controversial decisions and/or took L's against guys who were hardly ATGs. CompuBox did a study a while back where it revealed that Ali got hit A LOT, his defense was far from elite. Yet we're supposed to believe that Usyk wouldn't even be competitive with him? Yeah, that's bullshit.

@MonteroOnBoxing Solid points. Answer me this though. Who has ever been the “face of boxing” while never fighting in USA? All I’m saying is that when Floyd, Pac,Canelo were considered the face they were being talked about by casuals. Inoue isnt to that extent unfortunately

@handsofstone491 Why? What makes America the center of the boxing universe? Do casual fans only exist in the continental United States? Tens of millions of casual fans in Japan alone watched the Nakatani fight.

@SteveKim323 I’ve been saying that there won’t be another face of boxing after Canelo. If Inoue would’ve made it a point to become a star in America he possibly could’ve been it.Also if Gervonta would’ve fought more top comp and stayed out of trouble he could’ve been it.

I find the 'face of boxing' (and whose next) silly. Post-Canelo there is none, and may never be another one. Bottom line, they don't fight enough, generate enough attention, or have the match-ups that put them over the top. But there will be guys who will make a lucrative living from #boxing

Shakur Stevenson could never move up a division to knockout a hall of famer in their prime.. I do not want to see Shakur Stevenson at the third spot on the pfp list because that spot rightfully belongs to the Mexican monster..

I mean, again. I don’t think Crawford-Canelo was a Toney-McCallum, Morales-Barrera, Leonard-Hearns, Ali-Frazier I or III, either. Just thought it provided better action at the highest skill level than Inoue-Nakatani or Shakur-Teofimo. JMO. #Boxing

@Sean_Zittel How was that better? Crawford winning? Fight was also underwhelming

@MikeCoppinger This is why Copp was hired by The Ring. It takes a retard to tweet that out with a straight face. While you’re on your knees, allow me to explain this to you. Canelo has been off for a year after getting dominated by a welterweight. You’re out here gargling over a tune-up.

Yeh, poor Adrian Broner. Feel so so so sorry for him. Oh my what a F*cking crying shame he’s in this position. It’s not like when he was on top he used to go around and act like a complete and utter gobshite. He’s a tool, always been a tool always will be a tool. If he’s skint go and get a job or be head coach or something to do with his skills in the gym to make money. He won’t coach cos he’s too selfish to be a coach to his own needs. Turn it in Ryan ya plum…

@WillHarrisAOAF Stop that bs. Have you not seen how this dude acted for years? Guaranteed he did this to himself. Just because you’re a rich athlete and you blew it all doesn’t automatically demand pity.

@Turgon191 @LiamBadco Well you need new scoring criteria. His low kicks were mostly checked, he threw solid to the body but there’s no way he out scored Haggerty under any “criteria”. Damage, effective striking and defense all won

Thought we were gonna see absolute fireworks in that Yoza Haggerty fight …bit of an anticlimax until the last round when they started trading. Strange performance from Yoza he shut the distance and got close then just stood there haha.

@LiamBadco Haggerty clearly won round 1, Yoza clearly won round 4 and 5. Round 2 and 3 are close. Most people had it 2-1 Haggerty at the end of round 3 which I agree. I gave round 2 to Yoza. Should be 48-47 Yoza, but can be 48-47 Haggerty too
