I know a few people that it’s the norm for them, but where I live (unless parents are just loaded) adult kids are expected to just go adult when that age comes, and combined living is short-term fallback following divorce/death/illness/etc.

Tried doing this at a 5 star jungle resort in Thailand because I thought it’d be scenic and my whole villa was immediately invaded by monkeys looking for shelter. It was terrifying.
