I'm not advocating for arbitrary data on Bitcoin, however the insanity of FPPS must be exposed. There was 37 BTC mined from blocks 857910-857912 and likely none of that will make it's way to the underlying miners. Today the high fees are due to spam, but tomorrow they could be due to anything else including high demand for layer 1 financial settlement. The constant is that FPPS r̶o̶b̶s̶ keeps money from their miners that was paid by users.

I can't remember a time in #Bitcoin's history when the fee market & mempool was acting like this leading up to a mass adoption cycle. Usually the mempool fills up & fees rise during the mania phase. Even during the block size wars with 1 year+ of 1-5 sat/vbyte spam purposefully driving fees up ... it never got this congested. Ordinals are only 20% of fees. What's causing the rest of the demand for blockspace if not BRC20 & inscription spam? This doesn't *feel* natural. I know that over time Bitcoin base layer becomes a final settlement layer as fees become unaffordable. Not everyone will be able to even own a UTXO, but I expected that to start in 5-8 years, when the 2nd layer infrastructure was more mature, not now. What does a Bitcoin parabolic bull run look like when fees are already unaffordable before the bull market even starts? We've never been in that position before. The best data we have on how retail behaves during periods of high fees is at the height of the 2021 shitcoin bubble when we saw retail speculators paying hundreds of dollars in ETH gas fees to buy $100 worth of a dog coin or NFT launch in hopes of a 100X lotto ticket. However, Bitcoin is savings technology. It is sound money. There is a chance that you can yolo bet on some sats to hold it for 10 years for a potentially 100X - but that's not how the degenerate mind works. Likely, high fees before the halving and before the ATH will just drive more people to hold their BTC passively on custodial centralized platforms, which is not the optimal solution. I think it's more imperative than ever that we start adopting Liquid network. Wallets, Exchanges, Bitcoin venture capitalists & Bitcoin educators should be integrating with Liquid Network as part of their mental models, their products & their portfolios. We can prevent this pre-halvening mempool congestion issue from turning into a negative scenario for Bitcoin by adopting Liquid now.
