Last month, my colleague’s elder sister went for what doctors called a “routine fibroid removal.” Very simple operation, they said. I was at work, and honestly I swear I have never seen a situation as disturbing as today’s. About a week ago, I wrote something about the dangers of Pentazocine injections that both men and women administer to themselves just to get intoxicated. This morning, right after I opened my shop, a young lady suddenly came to meet me. She begged me to help her with an injection. I asked her, “What injection?” Then she brought out a Pentazocine injection from her cap and pleaded with me to give it to her. I didn’t immediately tell her I wouldn’t do it. Instead, I offered her a seat and calmly started talking to her. She came with a motorcyclist, so I went to him, explained the situation, apologized, gave him some money, and asked him to leave because this would take time. When I returned, I began asking her questions. She told me something shocking—she has been injecting herself with Pentazocine for about 12 years now, self-injecting. I went silent, looking at her in disbelief, almost moved to tears. What shocked me most was this: honestly, from her hands to her legs, there was hardly any visible vein left. Her entire body had been damaged—her veins had hardened, collapsed, and become unusable due to repeated injections. It didn’t stop there. She even said she had injected in her chest area, including breast tissues and nerves that are not meant for such things. She explained that now she was directed to me because she was hoping I might find a “tiny vein” for her. She further said she had even tried veins in her forehead and thighs because she could no longer find accessible veins anywhere in her body. This situation deeply disturbed me. Imagine a 27-year-old woman who has been destroying her body with Pentazocine since she was about 15 years old. The major danger of Pentazocine is respiratory depression. It affects breathing, which can lead to early death, kidney and liver damage, and many other severe health complications. May Allah protect us and guide us away from destruction.
