@mattpocockuk @sander_scode We're creating more and more docs and I haven't seen any evidence that agent is actually using them. Pi/Claude seems prefer just reading the code and that's always going to be more correct than the docs

@sander_scode Use progressive disclosure to allow the AI to navigate around the codebase. Put context pointers to the right areas. A thin layer of navigation docs, decoupled from the function of the code.

1. Delete the docs you create to explain your code 2. Take the tokens you save on updating those docs 3. Spend them on making your code self-explanatory

So Ferrari now will insert the same level of authenticity you’d find in a home gaming simulator with a manual gearbox, into their large V12 GT car. Still a dual clutch paddleshift but with a fiddly fun bit on top. Allocation & access bootlickers are fawning - but it reminds me of the ethos behind synthetic speaker engine noise, & remains to be seen if this technical cos-play is genuinely any good to drive. Not that I will drive one. Bravo to Ferrari for making this anyway; shows they still have some magic in them somewhere, & care. I suspect it would suit the N/A 296 platform they apparently have coming a lot better, as a large V12 800+bhp front engined cruiser to me isn’t the best candidate for a manual box but they have their reasons I’m sure. 1499 of them also being made; quite a lot. Maybe also a cab coming too. $675k starting is aggressive but they’ll flip, so that price is irrelevant to many of the buyers I guess. Most of them will have had to burn 7 figures to get into the allocation club in the first place. My advice? If you’re poor like me and/or haven’t played the Ferrari allocation game; Buy a 599 HGTE. Multiple times rarer, Enzo engine, 20% of the price & should double at least.

@isguyra @theo Corps are going to limit the token budget and won't be prepared to pay for cloud servers equivalent to a modern laptop. Half a dozen devs remote building/testing our apps is going to use way more resources than all our environments put together. I like the idea but can't see it

@theo Nope. The cost is unsustainable. It's ai catch 22. Everyone will be addicted to it, can't afford to completely use it, no one can do anything without it

I’d estimate we’re ~6 months from most devs moving their code agents off of their laptops

I arrived in Malta yesterday. Flew through the airport. Every desk was manned by a very pleasant human being. Airport queues are not caused by Brexit, not caused by the EU and not caused by the process. It's all down to whether they want to help tourists, or treat them like shit.

If you hire an engineer to join your team, they should be able to ship *something* to prod on their very first day. If they’re unable to, fix your process.

Europeans can’t comprehend that you can live in nyc, take a 5-6 hours flight to San Francisco and you’re in the same country and don’t need to do anything about your phone. No extra charge for service. In Europe you drive 10 min from Austria to Germany to buy cheaper groceries and you have to avoid using your phone because you’ll get extra charges as it’s another country and another cell provider. That’s why euros use WhatsApp. Most communications in the U.S. even far away in another state, don’t cost you more.

@sophgaston Yes, you have to register fingerprints each time, except when you don’t (eg at Paris CDG airport). As you say it’s baffling.

The EU’s EES scheme is perplexing for frequent travellers. There’s no advantage to previously completing registration in an EU airport. You are required to enter your passport, photo, fingerprints - in two machines - at both entry and departure, each time. Staff also baffled.

While people are making fun of him, this guy is a victim of the subsidized AI subscription con, where AI companies allow users to burn way, way more in tokens than their subscription costs. AI companies tricked their customers across the board.

@Techjunkie_Aman @petersaints Basic running and building containers I didn't see much difference between podman and Docker CE in WSL. It got more complex when I needed to use docker compose. Podman had what felt like hacky solutions to get it working. Ended up with team using Docker CE
