Dear @abhijeet_dipke , 🇳🇵🇮🇳 77 young people were brutally killed during the Gen Z movement in Nepal. They were human beings, students, citizens, protesters. They did not take to the streets because they were “STUPID,”. No one risks bullets, violence, arrest or death for entertainment. People rise when they feel betrayed, suffocated, or abandoned by the very systems meant to protect them. To reduce an entire youth movement, into a dismissive comparison meant to elevate one nation’s youth over another is immaturity. It is stupidity. it is arrogance. it is political illiteracy. It reduces complex histories of protest in South Asia to a shallow insult, as if people across borders have not repeatedly risen against the same patterns of exclusion, and governance failure. And India is definitely no exception!! As an Indian, this should not be hard for you to understand. Your country’s own political history is shaped by movements where students, workers, farmers, and ordinary citizens took to the streets when institutions stopped responding to them. From colonial resistance to post-independence uprisings, from Farmer protests to other contemporary protests, dissent has never been the language of “stupidity”. it has been the language of pressure points in a democracy. You may question methods. You may question outcomes. But dismissing an entire generation of political actors with mockery is avoidance. It allows you to stand comfortably outside history of resistance while others are forced to live inside it. And that comfort is exactly what political maturity is not. Also, if there is any “fresh leadership” worth imagining, it must move beyond superiority complexes and learn to engage its neighbours with respect, not condescension.
