Trust Wallet is constantly monitoring multiple avenues for any and all security threats to our users, alongside security partners & researchers. We received the intel which was later confirmed, where a hacker who claimed to have the ability to exploit the iMessage zero-day vulnerability, is asking for $2M on the dark web. Why did we decide to share? Trust Wallet actively communicates any potential threats and risks to the community either directly on socials or via our in-app security measures such as our security scanner, which alone has prevented over $600M of our users assets being prevents from reaching the hands of scammers since it's launch. Your security is paramount and we will continue to share risks like this to our users and the wider crypto community. Who does this effect? This could effect anyone, but as we stated; the likely targets are high net-worth individuals as the most lucrative targets. We don't know how much you all HODL, but as the risk is there for anyone - we outlined the safest course of action for you all. Is this a Trust Wallet issue? No, this is not a Trust Wallet issue; this is a potential exploit, possible through iMessage. This is not exclusive only to Trust Wallet users, but a potential risk for anyone using iOS with iMessage turned on. Do we have a vendetta against the blue box? As many of you have speculated in the comments, we do not. We love iMessage as much as the next person, but we are more so concerned about your security. There’s something I need to share with everyone. And I’ve almost been afraid to share it because coming from a person who needs logic and fact it sort of defies my previous reality. A couple of weeks ago, mum was sick as many of you know. She was in the hospital for 3 and a bit weeks in total and I was in the uk. For 2.5 weeks of this period we were basically told, she was going to die, not immediately but imminently / inevitably. On the Wednesday, we were told all they had left to do was a cardiac MRI and they didn’t know what to do with her, she was an anomaly and basically they were sorry but that’s what it was. That night (for one of the first times in my adult life) I prayed. I prayed for some help. I wasn’t sure who I was praying to, but I prayed anyway. I asked you all to send your prayers too and you did (I’m very grateful). The next day, we were told there is a chance my mum could have a defibrillator fitted if her heart was reacting well to medication (above 35% functionality, it was at 34% on the last scan) and her cardiac MRI results were clear. So the Thursday night I prayed again. I prayed for the above. Please look over my mum and have help her heart function to be above 35% for the fitting of a defib. The Friday morning I come in and mum says she had the MRI and spoken to the consultant and had some news, so I should sit. I did, expecting the worst as it had been a recurring theme since she’d been in hospital. She then went on to explain that her heart was functioning at much higher levels than expected, in fact they had been able to diagnose her. She’d had an infection in her heart that was causing many of the problems (still some underlying issues and damages like a non functioning valve and left ventricular damage with some other minor things). But, her heart was easily strong enough for not only a defib but also a pacemaker. Additionally, her heart medication could be cut in half and she’d leave hospital (following a successful procedure) on less medication than she went in on (with the addition of a pacemaker + defib). Incredible. The doctors said she was about the one patient a year they get to deliver an almost miracle message to and asked for her permission to publish her case into the British medical journal. Incredible. I still don’t quite believe it, but in some ways I do too. I am so greatful for life and all that it brings, but the point of this is, I am now a believer. Now I pray. Again, I’m not sure who or what to, but I pray. You can call it coincidence, but I can’t fathom that it could be. The odds are too high. Anyway, have a nice day/ evening depending on where you are and maybe share a thought or a prayer for someone you care about or someone in need. You may find, things turn out differently to what logic might tell you 🙏
