Why don't we have the "neutral" yellow skin tone emoji render as line art, i.e. the skin would be white on a white background and black on a black background?

PICARD: Data, shields up DATA: Brilliant! Shields can reduce damage we sustain. Not immunity. Not hubris. Just prudence. It's not precaution—it's strategy. [camera shakes] WORF: HULL BREACHES ON NINE DECKS DATA: Here's what happened: you told me to raise shields, and I didn't

@Doogsta @PaulEmbery @lawyer4laws Not particularly relevant. I’d assume once it came out that the woman was pregnant that she’d get female maternity benefits despite the employer’s initial assessment making the employment offer. This convo is about interview/offer stage.

My word. This is incredible. A real-life version of that scene from The Life of Brian: "Stan, you haven't got a womb! Where's the foetus going to gestate?! You going to keep it in a box?!"

"Among adolescents who underwent medical gender reassignment, psychiatric morbidity increased markedly during follow-up—rising from 9.8% to 60.7% in feminising gender re-assignment and from 21.6% to 54.5% in masculinising gender reassignment." Ruuska 2026 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ap…

@JamesCantorPhD @sharrond62 Yes psychiatric morbidity can go up if you take people early in their journey, and go down subsequently. The key here is that there was no control group. The claims GC make are laughable in showing their complete lack of credibility in interpreting evidence.

@JamesCantorPhD These data, taken while trans people in Finland were forced to undergo sterilisation to be recognised as trans, forced the government to change their approach. In 2023 they passed a law to recognise legal auto determination of gender with an easy administrative procedure. Thanks!

@DrainBammag @kimber_tweets @JamesCantorPhD This suggests to me that co-morbidities are being systematically under-detected in the reassignment cohort. Perhaps that group has been coached for fast-tracking on internet forums?

You can see from the data that 45% of cases present with psychiatric comorbidities but the group that is undergoes reassignment only averages about 15%. This suggests they ARE being selective. Nonetheless, of the 85% that have no comorbidities but get reassignment, HALF come down with additional mental illnesses within 2 years.

@AlbaAyrshire @ColinBrazierTV See also: "Given this distinction between sex and gender can be used as a way to gate-keep who can claim to belong to what gender based on sex differences, making such a distinction right now can easily be seen as a dog whistle."

The Green Party’s unhinged policies really do warrant more scrutiny. Today we learned the party suspended a member for refusing to call people who ‘identify as fairies’ by their ‘appropriate pronoun’. Utterly mental.

As another man who once worked with me declares himself saddened by my beliefs on gender and sex, I thought it might be useful to compile a list for handy reference. Which of the following do you imagine makes actors and directors who aren’t involved with the HBO reboot of Harry Potter so miserable? Is it my belief that women and girls should have their own public changing rooms and bathrooms? That women should retain female-only rape crisis centres? That men don’t belong in women’s sport? That female prisoners shouldn’t be incarcerated with violent men and male sex offenders? That women should remain a protected class in law, because they have sex-specific needs and issues? That language should reflect reality rather than ideological jargon, especially in a medical context? That women shouldn’t be harassed, persecuted or fired for refusing to pretend humans can change sex? That women should not be threatened with violence and rape when they assert their rights? That freedom of speech and belief are essential to a pluralistic democratic society? That troubled minors, especially those who are gay, autistic and trauma-experienced, should be given mental health support instead of irreversible surgeries and drug treatments on non-existent evidence of benefit? That gay people shouldn’t be pressured to include the opposite sex in their dating pools, nor should they be smeared as ‘genital fetishists’ when they don’t? That cross-dressing heterosexual male fetishists aren’t actually oppressed, but having the time of their lives piggybacking off gender identity ideology? That said ideology, and the privileged, blinkered fools pushing it because they suffer zero consequences themselves, have done more damage to the political left’s credibility than Trump and Farage could have achieved in a century? Let me have your thoughts.

Tears streaming down my face listening to this audio out of Iran. They are saying it’s a massacre worse than the mind can fathom. That the 12,000 estimate is a joke in comparison to the numbers killed. And above all, that they outside help… and they need it NOW

Iran is not a talking point. It is not a “counter-narrative.” It is not a chess piece in your anti-Western worldview. A part of the left has decided that as long as a group or a regime is anti-West, its crimes and atrocities don’t count. That logic has led them to excuse Hamas and whitewash the Islamic Republic of Iran. You cannot claim to stand for liberation while defending organizations that murder civilians, suppress women, torture dissidents, and rule through fear. That isn’t solidarity, it’s moral collapse. If your compassion switches off when the victims don’t fit your narrative, then you’re not defending justice. You’re defending power, just like the right wing that you’re so much against but with different slogans. Iran is not your narrative. Iran is a nation of people who deserve freedom, dignity, justice, and truth. #FreeIran #IranProtests2026

The problem with Lewis is he focuses of saving pennies rather than making his community rich . He’s focused on the survival rather than success . Basically asking people to hours of digging around to save virtually no nothing certainly not worth the time that goes into it . If he told people the most precious thing they have is time. Then they would look for the best way to sell that time .

Just heard someone on radio say "spendthrift" to mean someone who was tight. Actually it means the opposite a spendthrift is someone who spends a lot, extravagant, wasteful. I wonder are there other words are often wrongly used to mean the opposite of what they actually mean?
