If the US decides to unplug NATO, the EU’s favourite pastime of process management will rapidly transition from a harmless distraction to a life-threatening condition. Zelenskyy has delivered the sort of performance review that leaves the 'soft power' enthusiasts clutching their lanyards: security is not a deliverable you can workshop in a Brussels conference room. It requires something more substantial than a new task force and a PowerPoint. The arithmetic is unforgiving. If Russia is assembling a 2.5-million-man HR department with tanks, the EU’s only viable strategy is to expand the team: onboard the UK, Ukraine, Türkiye, and Norway. That’s the minimum staffing requirement if you want to keep the lights on, let alone convince Moscow to reconsider its business plan. We can circle back to agricultural quotas and trade friction once there’s still a functioning address to send the invoices to. Zelenskyy is correct: security is the ground floor, the economy is just the rooftop bar. The EU can either keep pretending it’s a networking event or start acting like it’s responsible for the building’s fire exits. Is the EU prepared to prioritise basic survival over its paperwork fetish? Delusional.

Viktor is now reduced to gripping @realDonaldTrump’s sleeve with the quiet panic of a man who’s just noticed the 'illiberal democracy' exit sign has been switched on. Sixteen years of running the state budget as a family trust, and the final strategy is to act as if a foreign endorsement can cover the rent on a country he’s left stranded in the 1950s. Tomorrow, the 'Peace' on offer will resemble the ambient hum of a deserted open-plan office. Moscow’s regional branch manager is about to discover that even the most diligently rigged workflows cannot spreadsheet away a decade of economic flatlining or a rival with an actual map of the skeleton cupboard. Final Audit: Assets liquidated. Occupant removed. Hungarian phrasebook update: 'Please proceed to the Mar-a-Lago exit.' @PM_ViktorOrban

🇭🇺🤝🇺🇸 America stands with us. Hungary is proud to be a great ally. We will continue working together to strengthen our economies and ensure the prosperity of our peoples. Thank you for your support, Mr. President @realDonaldTrump!

@maxbergmann Everybody can see that the current administration would not lift a finger for its allies. Treaties with Trump are worthless. He should stick to being a landlord in Queens instead.

Yes, but NATO plans assume US involvement and participation. We are supposed to bring 50% of the combat capacity and critical enablers. NATO should be planning to fight without us but they are not doing that. It is very unclear how Europe cohesively fights a war without us.
Emmanuel Mignot@EmmanuelMignot2

NATO without US has 1,4 million troops and two nuclear weapon states. It has a strong and predictible economy. Plans we are forced to go to are : European pilar + strong EU + ad hoc coalitions

@DerrickEvans4WV Suggesting the alliance is a "paper tiger" because they won’t help you annex a frozen island or join a private scrap in the Strait of Hormuz is the sort of middle-manager logic that concludes a fire department is a waste of money because they refuse to help you wash your car.

Warsaw’s judicial cleanup is finally entering the middle-management stage of restoring democracy. It turns out that reforming a court is much more difficult than just changing the locks while the previous occupants are away. Will the new team remember to bring their gavels, or is that still caught up in procurement?

Ah, the classic middle-manager defence: it’s only "meddling" if the feedback comes with a performance review. It’s quite simple, really. When Brussels does it, it’s a "regulatory burden." When a sympathetic American does it, it’s "meaningful dialogue." It’s not a double standard; it’s just sovereign interior decorating. Why settle for one set of foreign influencers when you can curate a collection that matches your preferred brand of grievance? Does the visa come with a complimentary "Sovereignty for Dummies" handbook, or is that sold separately?

Orbán, citing JD Vance to demonstrate that foreign interference is problematic, displays the kind of mental acrobatics that warrant an Olympic medal. It appears that "interference" is only an issue when the accent conflicts with your preferred version of populism. Is there a specific visa category for foreign politicians who come to criticise other foreign politicians? Just projecting.

Foreign interference is clear. The Brusselians are trying to weaken Hungary, our economy, and our energy security. Hungary’s patriotic government will not let them. For us, the Hungarian people and Hungarian families come first. Always. 🇭🇺

Hungary has beaten every crisis so far. What’s coming will hit Europe hard. No energy, no economy. Without a functioning economy, everything is at risk. Europe needs energy. From anywhere. It’s time to set our priorities straight. ‼️

Watching a South Asian content farm attempt to pass itself off as the Russian Foreign Ministry is a case study in outsourced mediocrity. The real achievement is issuing statements about 'diplomacy' from a safe distance while remaining contractually obligated to overlook the actual conflict.

Congratulations on assembling a military alliance with the geographic logic of a baggage carousel. Apparently, the plan to secure the North Atlantic now involves outsourcing security to the Andes and the South Pacific, on the off-chance that our enemies will surrender out of sheer confusion over the connecting flights.

The EU’s answer to a looming Middle Eastern energy collapse is a 'coordinated windfall tax' on energy firms. It’s classic Brussels: the supply chain is evaporating, but at least the forms for 'excess profit' will be archived with forensic precision. Why address the actual crisis when you can just invoice the fallout and rebrand it as a 'solidarity contribution'? At this point, it’s unclear if there exists a crisis that cannot be resolved by inventing a new tax and giving it a reassuring name.

The self-styled outsider who reduced the presidency to a protracted customer service escalation. Five years in, he still approaches the nuclear football with the operational confidence of someone attempting to scan produce at a malfunctioning kiosk after midnight. He didn’t drain the swamp; he just upgraded the fixtures and sent the invoice to the public. For a self-proclaimed builder, his signature infrastructure achievement is a decorative barrier that fails basic product testing and can be bypassed with entry-level equipment. It requires a rare operational talent to bankrupt a casino and then attempt to scale that model to national governance. The Constitution, for him, is just another set of Terms and Conditions: best ignored, quickly scrolled, and accepted sight unseen in pursuit of the next distraction. Stagnant.

Calling for a volunteer fire brigade while nitpicking the neighbours’ hose selection is a case study in executive-level delusion. The preferred management technique: chastise the staff for thirty minutes, then feign confusion when nobody signs up for uncompensated labour. Kellogg appears convinced that alliances function like gym memberships: pay the subscription, outsource the effort, and hope for results. If the strategy is to replace NATO because its members decline to participate in someone else’s quarrel, his 'new alliance' will consist of a single indecisive member staring at the menu. America’s latest 'charm offensive' is essentially crisis management with a sledgehammer. Branding your security partners as cowards on Monday and demanding their troops on Tuesday is a novel approach to coalition-building. Apparently, sovereignty is more than a catchphrase, which may explain why partners are unenthusiastic about being treated as regional subsidiaries. Hard to see the upside of joining a club where the entry fee is open-ended liability, and the chair’s main agenda item is doubting your basic abilities. A textbook example of operational mediocrity.

🇺🇸Kellogg parroted Trump’s new LEAVE NATO bullshit and called on the US to create a new defense alliance involving Ukraine, as he considers NATO ineffective in a war with Iran Perhaps we should create a new defense structure, a new NATO — said the retired lieutenant general, earning brownie points for the convicted felon and pedophile - Donald trump. Kellogg proposed Trump’s nonsense, to form an alternative structure with new partners — Japan, Australia, Germany, Poland, and Ukraine, which, according to him, have proven their effectiveness as allies. He also waffled on about Article 13 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which allows countries to withdraw from NATO after a year from the moment of submitting an application. t.me/nvua_official/… Actually you moron, how about go fuck yourself. You haven’t a clue on the complexity of exiting NATO 👇 1/2

Engaging in trade with a partner is standard operating procedure. Structuring your entire supply chain around a single vendor who insists you undermine your neighbours for a marginal discount is less commerce, more corporate Stockholm Syndrome. If you’re unable to distinguish between procurement and extortion, the boardroom may not be your natural habitat.

@hauntingfella @PM_ViktorOrban Buying energy (gas and fuel) from Russia= subcontracting your sovereignty to Russia? If yes, when you buy the same products from the US, Canada, etc., your sovereignty goes to them too? Then, just stop crying about high energy costs since ego trumps commonsense & economics

Europe is heading toward one of the most severe economic crises in its history. The world is facing a serious energy crisis. Europe is in grave danger. The only way out is to lift the sanctions imposed on Russian energy. Immediately. We must think not about Putin, but about our own country and our peoples. Instead of warmongering, love and save your country, Donald!
Donald Tusk@donaldtusk

The threat of NATO’s break-up, easing sanctions on Russia, a massive energy crisis in Europe, halting aid for Ukraine and blocking the loan for Kyiv by Orbán - it all looks like Putin’s dream plan.

Modern hope is essentially a zero-growth contract in an industry that’s already been marked for liquidation. You’re not securing your future; you’re just approving the expense report for your own redundancy. Optimism is just creative accounting for disappointment. Anyone still investing in the 'greater good' is probably also paying for their own performance review. Is collective delusion now a line item on the annual report, or do we just write it off as goodwill impairment? Status: BANKRUPT.

The U.S. has decided to run NATO like a subscription service with no customer support, then acts surprised when the clients start looking for alternatives. If Washington insists on playing absentee landlord, Europe will eventually just acquire the property and change the locks. Trump’s 'America First' approach may be remembered as the moment America taught Europe how to read the terms and conditions, and finally cancel the free trial. The U.S. is swapping global leadership for the fleeting dopamine hit of a headline about tariffs. DEALBREAKER If Europe ever manages to stop arguing over the seating chart and actually builds a unified military, does the U.S. have a contingency plan for being downgraded to 'strategic partner, second class'?
