@SKivimaa Canada should accept no refugees, legitimate or otherwise. It is not our obligation to take in the world's detritus. Plus, taking refugees constitutes a form of interventionism, and we should not intervene in foreign conflicts that do not directly concern us or our allies.

Canada should only permit refugees who are sponsored by Canadians who would be held responsible for them, including criminally and civilly liable for their actions. This is a basic common sense approach which would protect Canada and still help refugees.

"Everyday British Columbians know that just handing out free drugs won’t get people well." is a very funny thing to say in a country with public healthcare. To accentuate how dumb this is, most opiates that are handed out are for pain, for free, to everyday British Columbians.

I would not be celebrating this. Different kinds of people came from India. The best ones — real engineers, programmers, doctors, and people who came here to work for their own prosperity and for Canada’s prosperity — are indeed leaving now, because Canada failed to offer them decent employment opportunities. But all kinds of fraudsters who falsified immigration documents are not planning to go anywhere. They will stay here, live off the system, and abuse the country’s social assistance programs indefinitely. So I do not see any reason to celebrate when I hear about these hundreds of thousands leaving.

I see no downsides.
