In explaining his decision to leave Ole Miss for LSU, Lane Kiffin seems willing to invoke Ole Miss's struggle to distance itself from symbols like the Confederate flag, Colonel Rebel, and the nickname "Ole Miss" itself. When he was coaching there, Kiffin says, top recruits would tell him, “‘Hey, coach, we really like you. But my grandparents aren’t letting me move to Oxford, Mississippi.’ That doesn’t come up when you say Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Parents were sitting here this weekend saying the campus’s diversity feels so great: ‘It feels like there’s no segregation’” vanityfair.com/news/story/lan…

My statement on Christina Pushaw’s Crashout For the last two months, Christina served as an informal advisor to my campaign. We spoke several times a week, compared strategy, and she even traveled to my campaign events. That changed on Monday, when Lieutenant Governor @JayCollinsFL announced his run for Governor. Suddenly, Christina became frustrated with my campaign. On Wednesday night, she called me 28 times in a row until 1:26 in the morning (see screenshots). I told Christina that under no circumstance will I drop out and endorse Jay Collins or another candidate. I am in this race to win and fight for every single person who calls Florida home. Christina Pushaw's pathetic attack is the latest sign that our campaign to put Florida First is a real threat to the Tallahassee swamp. Florida’s next Governor will be chosen by moms in Marianna and dads in Miami. Truck drivers in Crestview and U.S. Sugar workers in Clewiston. Not by AIPAC, not by corporate donors, and sure as heck not by Christina Pushaw or whoever decided to pay her this time. I am running to be Florida’s next Republican Governor because this is the greatest state in the country, yet the people who made it great have been left behind and forgotten. It should not be *this hard* to get a great-paying job, buy a home, raise a family, and retire with dignity in Florida. I am asking you to hire me as your next Governor to change that. James T.
