Exciting new unifying framework for supervised, self supervised & semi supervised learning for regulatory genomics. Cool applications. Going to bet this flexibility will become increasingly popular. Well suited to multimodal, multi context genomic profiling & sequencing data. 1/

Excited to share Nona: a unifying multimodal masking framework for functional genomics. Models for DNA have evolved along separate paths: sequence-to-function (AlphaGenome), language models (Evo2), and generative models (DDSM). Can these be unified under a single paradigm? 1/15

This has been a wonder to see from inception. Superbly creative, principled and talented scientists. Take a look, imagine other useful masking strategies and let us know. Finally, postdoc position ad at the end of the thread.

it's been 3+ years since @RichBonneauNYC, @GligorijevicV and i founded @PrescientDesign early 2021. from day 0, my goal has always been to build a lab-in-the-loop protein design platform (see the figure from our very early pitch deck 😂), and during the past 3+ years (mostly as part of gRED), our growing team has almost obsessively stuck to this goal. in doing so, we had to advance frontiers of multiple disciplines, including ML & bio, and double down on building strong s/w foundations. yesterday at #ICLR2024, i had an immense pleasure to share our progress in lab-in-the-loop antibody design and where our true ambition is at, with the community (iclr.cc/virtual/2024/i…), on behalf of Prescient Design and our colleagues at Genentech/Roche. what a ride it's been!

Check out our work today at #ICLR2024. We insert a concept bottleneck layer into generative models, which allows us to interpret, control, and debug them. This is a first step towards interpretable generative modeling! @juliusadml @hcorrada @stephenrra @kchonyc

We are looking for an intern with a strong ML and interpretability background to join me, @juliusadml, and the amazing @PrescientDesign @genentech team next summer as an intern in our NYC office! We will be adding interpretability to LLMs with applications in drug discovery. 🧵1/

Ever analyze a scRNAseq dataset and wonder if a specific cell state has been seen before? And if so, where in the human body? Under what conditions? Well, now you can use our lightning fast SCimilarity search and foundational model for that! ⚡️🔎🧬 biorxiv.org/content/10.110… (1/11)

webR v0.1.0 has just been released! I'm super excited to see what people create by using webR in their own projects 😃. The docs are at docs.r-wasm.org and I've written an introductory blog post talking more about the kind of things webR can do at tidyverse.org/blog/2023/03/w….

@lpachter I’ve found PhD defenses and graduations are really high on the list of things I miss most moving to industry. The ritual, the celebration and reflection of seeing someone succeed is so unique. They should be treasured like this.
