All too often, abuse survivors tend to look through “rose-colored glasses” and overlook red flags when a Christian institution expresses interest in conducting an “independent investigation.” “You have, understandably, a trust in this institution, because you think because they’re Christian, that they’re going to do the right thing,” Tchividjian said. “And you need to at least take a step back and think about the possibility that maybe they’re not doing the right thing. Maybe they’re more concerned about themselves than you. Another alleged victim of former @WheatonCollege administrator Dennis Massaro has come forward, alleging a decades-long cover-up and duplicity at the school. my stomach in knots, my chest tight, and wake up to a new day of anxiously waiting for my whole world to implode.

And then the panic begins to rise. I swallow it down. I try to distract myself. But it doesn’t work. Night always comes. And instead of sleep, it is uninterrupted time for my brain to run through every possibility. Every iteration of how this could go. And I finally fall asleep,
