@DrEliotAttridge @Alsadius @emollick Depends on the course. If you have 70++ students, milestones will be small written exercises not oral questions

@heidrunam @Alsadius @emollick No- the milestones are oral questions along the way to check the student has understood what they have written. The teacher can also check that it is authentic. After all, AI doesn’t have to have written the piece, someone else could have!

Look, if everyone is worried about students cheating on essays for AI, instructors can just cheat right back. I asked OpenAI to give me an essay question & make a rubric for grading. I had GPT-3 actually write the essay. I then had the OpenAI grade the essay & give comments. ✅

@DrEliotAttridge @Alsadius @emollick But they can use AI for formative assessment tasks as well 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Alsadius @emollick No, that would be regressive. A better way: assess the process up to the final report, with milestones along the way to check for understanding. These would ensure that the learner understood what they had written, amongst other things. Handwritten tests also need this too!

@SarahSchonbauer You could move to Norway where the work day stops at 16 o‘clock and day care is open until 16:30. Just saying, there are ways to organize this structurally better and more equal in society.

Biking uphill to work everyday with good help of a battery, fresh air in the face and the #fjord in the background. A good start in the day and part of the pleasure of living in #Norway. #ebike

It strikes me how much voluntary time and human resource investment it would take to build non-profit platforms that really work. Maybe universities could play a role in this.
