There is no way to do mass deportations in a smarter way, as self-proclaimed, do-nothing Tom Homan says. It was always going to be ugly. Ok, I'll say it.
If you are determined to make your country an exclusive home for people of your own ethnicity, religion and culture, you are by definition in favour of genocide.
You may think you only want the "others" to be deported, but the problem with mass deportations is that you can't force other countries to accept your rejects. So if you are really serious about getting rid of people who are not like you, you will eventually opt for genocide. It may not be a conscious decision; you may simply find yourself doing it because all other ways of eliminating the "others" have failed.
For this reason, genocides are common. Perpetrators never see their actions as genocide; usually, they see themselves as waging a "just war" against "the others" who threaten the survival of their group.
The root of genocide is hatred and fear of people who are "not like us". Beware of those emotions. They are natural to humans. But they lead us into terrible places.
