@sola_chad That position means history was completely ignored. The ecumenical councils show there were popes. Early Christian writings indicate there were popes. Evidence shows episcopates existed, something MacArthur didn't believe was necessary. May he rest in peace, but he was wrong here

@MethodMinistry The scriptures that you appeal to as the final say do not conclude that sola fide is true. The Church did not endorse the idea, and it was the reformed who introduced it- a new innovation. So on that basis, you can't conclude that is what caused Rome to be out of communion.

It isn't just a minor error, but a deliberate, persistent departure from core dogma. You can conclude that a system of theology is bad while not concluding the same of all those who believe in its principles.

How did the Jews know 2 Chronicles was Scripture? Not from a completed, leather-bound table of contents falling from the sky. They knew through the life of the community—through liturgical use, continuity of teaching, and the received tradition of the people of God.
