@ProfRobHoward I also take umbrage with the idea that they should be the member of the team caring for our patient's physical heath - this is complex and a crucial part of caring for psychiatric patients, and if its not appropriate in other settings why in ours?

I’m relieved that this says that PAs must not be used to replace psychiatrists, but am underwhelmed by this guidance and left unclear exactly what we think the role of PAs in our services should be. Without such clear definition, the dangers are obvious.

Hundreds of final year med students have been told there isn’t yet a job for them. We are concerned that they may only get three weeks notice of where they are working. If we treat new doctors like this, they will leave the NHS. Time for @wesstreeting to take some action!
