I regard myself as a Christian. Most of the philosophical Christians - those who have an opinion on such matters - would not regard me as a Christian based on my metaphysical beliefs. I'm a philosopher. I taught metaphysics for 30 years. Yet I'm treated like an ignorant child.

@HetkeBrian @IAI_TV humans, and all our endeavors, are necessarily limited in perceiving what "reality" is. to claim otherwise seems, to me, to be a rather hubristic claim. naive scientific realism is as hubristic as dogmatic metaphysical assumptions.

@IAI_TV This is a simple category error. Science is limited by sense perception. It predicts how reality behaves on the screen of perception, nothing at all about what reality is.

NestJS really won my heart with JavaScript. Go, on the other hand, feels more functional, and writing code that way stresses me out sometimes. I like classes. I like abstraction. I like being able to inherit and structure my code that way. By the way what the best backend framework I could use to get started in go

@darkprof right now it’s like, i’m so cursed with having to acknowledge nuance EVERY TIME, the opportunity cost became certainty; i go into many conversations largely confused and indeterminate. however, clearly, this person seems entirely unencumbered by this burden. must be bliss.

Does it matter? No seriously. Do we have any reason to believe this is important beyond that society has come to associate the word "subjective" with "fake/untrue"? Morality is subjective. You dont have to ask if an objective thing is objective. Mutuality in opinion doesnt change that. Many people believe breaking bad is the greatest show ever made that doesnt make it objective truth. Nor does the fact that its subjective negate the objective consequences of those opinions (awards, money, ratings, sequels etc)

I once worked with a senior backend engineer who believed that the strongest backend systems were the ones where logic is written more on the database layer than on the code layer. The normal if-else statement you would write to check a users balance, bro writes all that logic directly on the DB, there were triggers, database functions etc. Bro was literally coding with SQL. At that point I didn’t know SQL could even do all that. Bro would review my code then and ask me why was I writing all that logic in code when it could reside directly on the db😂. This was way before AI and bro would prefer to write every single thing by hand rather than install a package, he felt they were not secure. Bro uses a framework just to repurpose it and customize everything! At The point working with bro, he was almost 40. Man! I’ve worked with cracked devs, and I’m grateful for every experience that has shaped me.

@patrickaigbogun @echo_vick then maybe they should have thought more carefully about attacking my honesty & character by stating "anyone can claim anything in hindsight", implicitly positing i would lie, especially when it’s unreasonable to do so. ;-)
