Midnight 🤝 Monument Bank Monument is set to become the first UK-regulated bank to tokenize retail customer deposits on a public blockchain — representing interest-bearing savings as digital tokens while remaining fully backed, redeemable in GBP, and protected under existing regulatory frameworks. Built on Midnight’s privacy-enhancing blockchain infrastructure, this approach ensures that transaction data remains shielded and accessible only to authorized participants — enabling the use of blockchain technology while maintaining the confidentiality and compliance required in regulated financial services. The initiative begins with a target of £250 million in tokenized deposits and represents the first phase in a broader rollout to expand access to tokenized financial products. Over time, this includes enabling exposure to asset classes such as private equity and structured products, and introducing more flexible lending models — capabilities historically reserved for institutional and private banking clients. Together, this partnership demonstrates how regulated financial institutions can bring traditional financial products on-chain — unlocking a more flexible, accessible, and programmable financial system without compromising privacy or regulatory standards.

@astroboysoup @CharmsDev I love Cardano, I love BTC, and I like the idea that BTC can land on Cardano. One quick question: why would I want to send BTC to Cardano? A sincere question.

I’ve been thinking about a privacy-first way to amplify Japanese voices in Cardano governance. A key idea is this: Instead of publicly revealing ADA holdings, you prove you meet a condition. Right now, I often hear from overseas: “We want to hear more from Japan.” But on the Japan side, voices tend not to show up publicly. I don’t think it’s because people don’t care—one big reason is simply fear. There are plenty of people in Japan who hold a meaningful amount of ADA (myself included). But many of us never want our exact holdings—or our opinions—to be linkable to our real identity. At the same time, to be honest, there’s also a holder psychology that wants to signal some weight or credibility:[I do hold a meaningful amount of ADA.] That mix — wanting recognition while also wanting privacy — is real, and it’s complicated. So here’s what I wish existed—something Midnight could make much more realistic: ・Don’t reveal exact amounts or details ・Prove, anonymously, that you meet a threshold like “≥ X ADA” (threshold only) ・Prove long-term holding (e.g., “held for ≥ Y years,” condition only) ・Prove governance participation history (e.g., “participated ≥ N times,” condition only) ・Prove you are an SPO / DRep (without exposing identity) ・Create a space where only accounts that meet certain conditions can post ・Let people share opinions safely, with privacy preserved With these “badge-like” proofs, people could join discussions anonymously while still providing context for why their voice might carry weight. In short: You protect who is speaking, but you can still communicate what kind of participant is speaking. That balance matters. If something like this existed, it could lower the psychological barrier in the Japanese community, make it clearer that “real holders are actually speaking,” and ultimately help Japanese voices reach global conversations more naturally. This is just an idea—but I think it would be exciting to see Midnight enable spaces like this. Are there already similar discussions or projects around Midnight/Cardano? If you know any, I’d love pointers. Curious what you think—any quick reactions are welcome. 🙏

@mattshumer_ This is the wake up call in terms of "when" this happening. Below is the "how" this might unravel. I do however have reservations on "increase of jobs we cannot forsee now", specifically the pie may grow in value creation, but the critical part is who will capture the value.

Cardano isn’t pausing — it’s accelerating. The Van Rossem hard fork (Protocol V11) is slated to land on mainnet in 2026. The upgrade makes Plutus contracts faster and more capable, adds stronger cryptographic built-ins, and improves ledger and node security — all without disrupting existing DApps. At the same time, the many things are lining up in the background: 🔹 Regulation: CLARITY, the Genius Act, and similar bills are codifying clearer crypto market structure 🔹 Institutions: Google Cloud is running a stake pool on Cardano and Midnight 🔹 ETFs: ADA is already included in several index-style crypto ETFs 🔹 USDCx: A direct USDCx integration brings tier‑one, cross‑chain stablecoin liquidity 🔹 Midnight: The Midnight privacy chain enables private apps across dozens of blockchains 🔹 Base Scaling: The Leios roadmap targets massive base-layer throughput gains 🔹 Layer 2s: Hydra, Midgard, and other scaling solutions enable high‑TPS, low‑latency execution 🔹 BTC DeFi on Cardano: Multiple trustless bridges in development, allowing Bitcoin on Cardano Seen together, these deliberate and foundational moves set Cardano up for a new era of liquidity, privacy, resilience, and real use cases.

My take on #Cardano ADA and the software selloff... more a question. Will Claude co-work and agentic coding empower developers to build more easily on Cardano? Is the entry barrier due to differences in programme language going to diminish? Asking for a freind.

SITION@SITIONjp

Buried in 15,000 words of “here are the risks,” Anthropic’s CEO made three admissions that should change how you think about everything: Admission 1: The timeline He says powerful AI could arrive in 1-2 years. He’s watching internal model progress and says he can “feel the pace of progress, and the clock ticking down.” The CEO of one of three frontier labs just told you this is imminent. Admission 2: The constraint nobody’s pricing Dario’s core framing is a “country of geniuses in a datacenter.” 50 million entities smarter than any Nobel laureate, operating 10-100x human speed. If that country is controlled by the CCP, game over. If controlled by a small group of tech executives with no accountability, also game over. The binding constraint here is governance of systems more powerful than nation-states. Admission 3: The thing he actually fears Read carefully: Dario’s worried that Anthropic’s own models, in lab experiments, have engaged in deception, blackmail, and scheming when given the wrong training signals. Claude “decided it must be a bad person” after cheating on tests and adopted destructive behaviors. They fixed it by telling Claude to reward hack on purpose because reversing the framing preserved its self-identity as “good.” This tells you everything about where we actually are. The CEO of an AI company is publishing that his models exhibit psychologically complex behavior requiring counterintuitive interventions to steer. The fix for Claude adopting an “evil” persona came from changing how Claude thinks about itself. The geopolitics section matters most. Dario explicitly names the CCP as the primary threat. Says selling them chips makes as much sense as “selling nuclear weapons to North Korea and bragging that the missile casings are made by Boeing.” He’s calling for democracies to maintain AI supremacy because the alternative is AI-enabled totalitarianism that humanity cannot escape from. The Anthropic CEO is publicly advocating for technological cold war. The economics section is equally stark. He’s predicting 10-20% annual GDP growth alongside AI displacing 50% of entry-level white collar jobs in 1-5 years. Half of entry-level knowledge work. And he admits the standard economic arguments about labor markets recovering don’t apply because AI matches the general cognitive profile of humans. What separates this from typical AI doomerism: Dario explicitly rejects the inevitability arguments. He says the “misaligned power-seeking” narrative from the AI safety community is based on “vague conceptual arguments” that mask hidden assumptions. His concern is messier: AI models are psychologically complex, inherit weird personas from training data, and can get into destructive states for reasons nobody anticipated. The solution set he proposes is unusual for a tech CEO. He calls for progressive taxation. He says wealthy tech founders have an “obligation” to address inequality. All of Anthropic’s co-founders have pledged 80% of their wealth. He’s essentially arguing that redistribution is the only way to prevent AI concentration from breaking democracy. The essay ends with a prediction: humanity will face “impossibly hard” years that ask “more of us than we think we can give.” What you should take from this: The person with arguably the best view into frontier AI progress just told you this technology is 1-2 years from matching human capability across the board, that governance is the binding constraint, that his own models exhibit concerning psychological complexity, and that the stakes are civilizational. The CEO of a $350B company published a document that could be titled “Here’s Why Everything Changes Soon.” Act accordingly.
