It’s a complete disgrace that these changes are being introduced this year.
They will significantly affect Carlton, Port Adelaide, and Essendon, while sides such as Gold Coast Suns, Brisbane Lions, Geelong, Collingwood, and Western Bulldogs have already gained substantial advantages from these systems.
If changes are necessary, they should be implemented after the introduction of the Tasmanian team to ensure fairness and consistency across the competition.
It’s incredibly disappointing from the AFL and Greg Swann. The inconsistency is hard to ignore—especially given his recent role as CEO of the premiership-winning Brisbane Lions, a club that has benefited so effectively from father-son and academy pathways.

Getting closer now for the new bidding rules to be introduced for 2026. Clubs have had their final lobbying but still expected to come in for this year, with some tweaking being done in recent weeks.

Mike’s recall is bad. I refused to continue to appear on his radio show after he deliberately made Stan Zemanek’s widow cry as she was preparing to go to his funeral. He delighted in doing it. I was immediately redeployed onto another show & he was fired not longer after.
