Amazing kickoff to @AmCollegeGastro #2ndYFC with @DHassMD discussing “Life After Fellowship” Some pearls from the talk: ⭐️ Define your practice goals early. ⭐️Setting and culture matter as much as pay. ⭐️Ask how work is distributed and how success is measured. ⭐️Fit > prestige. Long-term satisfaction comes from alignment. ⭐️Use your network. Most jobs come from people, not postings. ⭐️See volume and variation in fellowship. It shapes your judgment. ⭐️Learn from many, then build your own clinical style. ⭐️Non-clinical skills matter. Billing, QI, EMR, leadership compound. ⭐️Know billing and coding before you graduate. It protects autonomy.

👎We’re failing patients with alcohol-associated liver disease 🏥 ALD admissions: 11.5k → 37.5k (2014–2023) Among ALD admissions, within 1 year post-discharge: 💊 Medication rates barely reached 24% 🧠 Any psychiatric visit remained at 6.5% in 2023!!! 👥 Sex disparity: post-DC care was worse in males Sobering gap in postdischarge support, we MUST do better! @JAMANetworkOpen @AlcoholPolicy @AASLDtweets @AlcoholFocus @AlcoholChangeUK @NIAAAnews @ASAMorg @samhsagov @HepaTing @sychan0514 @juanpabloarab @rabataller

🚨 New publication alert! 🚨 Excited to share our new paper in @JAMANetworkOpen 🎉
We examined 10 years of post-discharge care in alcohol-associated liver disease patients and found underutilization of pharmacological cessation and psychiatric interventions, especially among men and patients with cirrhosis. 🔗jamanetwork.com/journals/jaman… 🙏Huge thanks to my mentors and team for the incredible support! @YeeHuiYeo1 @NatchayapMD @HepaTing #hepatology #livertwitter #GI

@sychan0514 great work Emily! Rising alcohol relapse prevention therapy initiation after admission for alcohol related liver disease may be a concerted effort by the medical community to curb adverse effects of alcohol use, but remains so for a minority of patients.

There are two ways to meet an expert IBD-ologist One, attend @GuildConference Two, which is what I do most of the time, say out loud "Ulcerative colitis? Let's start cipro/flagyl!" or "Crohn's? Time for mesalamine". Usually they come running straight to you
