Are AI agents cracked at Tanstack Start yet or are there gaps?

@spikebrehm Next.js gave us a unified solution out of the box with many problems solved and good defaults. I am glad it has a good competitor - TanStack Start. I am all bought in and thats my primary stack now. I didn't know about grind mode. Not a cursor user.

finally got sick of painfully slow Next.js hot reload times, and issues with turbopack that forced us back to webpack we kicked off a Cursor cloud agent in GRIND MODE to migrate us to TanStack Start and 14 hours later it's still grinding…

I have tried NextAuth and some other libraries as well (can't remember the names), but BetterAuth really does a great job - integrating with any tool - well documented. - actively supported - YC badge

- Replace mintify with fumodocs (OS) - Replace cursor with GH Copilot pick sonnet gemini or opus - Skip hono and go Tanstack Start full stack - Better-auth - there is nothing better Also: - You need email - use plunk - Drizzle - best ORM - Tailwind is great, use shadcn with ready made components - Openpanel is good, I use posthog. Host: - Postgres on Neon, Supabase will pause your project if unused - Netlify is great for static sites - Vercel is better for dynamic because it has fast first time load. I put all together on BetterStarter.dev. Looking for beta testers

If you're starting a new project, don't use: 1. Namecheap = replace by Porkbun or Cloudflare 2. Supabase = replace by PostgreSQL + Better-Auth or use Convex 3. Supabase Storage = replace by Cloudflare R2 4. Next.js = use TanStack Start + more client side rendering, stop server side, the hype is over and the agent does a lot of mistakes and you are good to go

Its unfair to compare Tanstack with Next.js since Tanstack is a collection of 10+ libraries. Some mature, some world class, and some just launched. However I agree with your shiny object concern. True - TanStack Start is in Alpha, nearing version 1. - Their pre-rendering is subpar to Astro and Next.js (however that was never their focus) - Hope that becomes that too. Also true - Tanstack Start will be mature in 3 months (guestimate) False - Tanstack is not mature (Sentry, T3Chat, any many big boys use their libraries like Router and Table)

man my X feed is full of this "dump nextjs for tanstack" posts and i once fell for this hype when svelte was the new kid in town… and guess what .. it was a huge mistake. Always go with the tools which are industry standard. You have.. - big community with lot of support - mature system - tons of guides, templates, external tools - most jobs are nextjs related - payload cms needs nextjs - verbose but very powerful and complete solution Next has no vendor lock, vercel just makes it easier to get started. You can still run it on your own docker vps even with ISR support People who complain (and i was one of them too some time ago) just have a skill issue because of how verbose it is. Learn how to write good code, learn which hooks when to use and how to write optimized code. Tanstack is not mature and will cause you more headache in the longterm. Its totally fine to use it in a hobby project though
