I don’t like this new X algorithm.🙂Yes, I said it. It could have been a lot more balanced. Let me explain. I spent over 2 hours doomscrolling today, and almost every post I saw was from my mutuals. Now, let’s get something straight. Every advantage comes with a disadvantage. The downside of this update is that it puts everyone in a box. Your posts are less likely to reach new people. New builders won’t discover you. New founders won’t stumble across your work. New audiences won’t find your content naturally. This is especially bad for creators, builders, and upcoming founders who rely on discovery to grow. Instead, your content keeps circulating among the same mutuals. And eventually, even they get tired of seeing the same type of posts every day. Imagine seeing the same niche of content over and over again. No fresh perspectives and No new creators plus no new audience. There was at least a partial solution before: Explore and Topics. If you wanted something different, you could actively go looking for it. But let’s be honest, most people won’t. A better approach would have been to keep mutual-heavy content in the Following tab, without flooding the Following feed with replies, while still letting the algorithm surface great posts from outside your circle. Well, I said what I said. The people enjoying it today will probably complain about it eventually. It’s only a matter of time.
