If a film they praise gets rejected by the public, suddenly the audience "doesn't understand cinema." If a film they trash becomes a hit, the audience is still the problem.. because admitting they got it wrong isn't an option. 🫠 Now they're picking audience clips that fit their narrative.. making themselves look smart and the audience look stupid. At some point, it stops looking like film criticism and starts looking like a content strategy. Outrage drives clicks. Negativity fuels engagement. Trolling keeps the algorithm happy. The irony? A comedy film's job is to make audiences laugh. A roasting reviewer's job is to make audiences laugh at the film. That's why they are so rarely on the same side.
