🚨 The market is betting on a US–Iran breakthrough. Oil prices are falling, stocks are climbing, and traders are positioning for a possible deal that could reshape the Middle East energy landscape. But there’s one problem: Washington says no final agreement has been reached. If talks collapse, the reaction could be brutal. 🇺🇸🇮🇷

Exxon Says We’re Two Weeks From Petrol Armageddon Right. So it turns out closing the world’s most important oil chokepoint has consequences. Who knew. Exxon’s Senior VP Neil Chapman stood up at a Bernstein conference this week and said what everyone in the industry is thinking but politely avoiding at dinner parties: global oil inventories are approaching “truly unprecedented” lows. His words. And when a Senior VP at Exxon starts using phrases like “truly unprecedented,” you should probably pay attention. The IEA has already called Iran’s Strait of Hormuz blockade the largest oil supply disruption in recorded history. Over a billion barrels lost since late February. A billion. That’s not a rounding error. That’s a civilisational inconvenience. Chapman’s estimate: Brent crude hits $150 to $160 per barrel once stockpiles reach critical levels. Two to three weeks away. Wood Mackenzie, never a firm known for cheerful forecasts, went further and suggested $200 by year-end if the strait stays shut. With a global recession as a bonus prize. So there we have it. The world spent decades building an energy system with a single point of failure, handed Iran the keys to it, and is now surprised that the keys are being used. Genius, really. open.substack.com/pub/gandalv/p/…

🇺🇸🇮🇷 Trump announced a deal. Iran announced a different deal. Same negotiation. Same day. Completely different terms. Trump's version: Hormuz opens for free, Iran's nuclear materials get destroyed, blockade lifts now. Iran's version: $12 billion released immediately before anything moves, Lebanon ceasefire on Hezbollah's terms, and nobody agreed to free passage or uranium destruction. One of them is describing a deal that doesn't exist yet. Maybe both are. The Situation Room is still meeting. Iran hasn't signed. And the world just watched two sides announce two completely different agreements simultaneously. This is either the messiest closing of a historic deal... or there is no deal. Source: Fars News

🇺🇸🇮🇷 Iran just published a point-by-point rebuttal of Trump's Truth Social post Their version of the deal: no clause requiring Hormuz to be toll-free, no uranium destruction, and two things Trump didn't mention at all. $12 billion in frozen assets released immediately before anything else moves, and a ceasefire in Lebanon as a precondition. So Trump announced a deal where Iran gives up its nuclear program and opens Hormuz for free. Iran announced a deal where the US pays $12 billion upfront and stops the Lebanon war first. These are not the same deal. Someone is lying, someone is spinning, or there are two completely different documents floating around the same negotiation. The Situation Room is still meeting. New: US Military confirms that the U.S. blockade, in direct contrast to President Trump’s statement earlier today, remains ACTIVE. It was rumored that the removal of the U.S. blockade was the first step towards the eventual MOU, but it seems as though there is not intention from the United States at this time to stand down. The dueling blockades continue.

🇺🇸 Chevron's CEO said June and July will be worse. Exxon is projecting $150-$160 oil within 2-3 weeks. ADNOC says the Strait of Hormuz won't fully recover until 2027. And markets haven't reacted yet. Either traders know something 3 oil CEOs don't, or the real shock hasn't hit yet because the physical market is still catching up to the fundamentals. The buffers are gone. The spare capacity is gone. The next supply disruption doesn't get absorbed anymore… It goes straight to your gas tank. Source: Bloomberg, @jackprandelli
