We used to have "hidden pre-mine" back in 2014 - 2015 So the developer said oh yeah token supply max 80 million tokens. Supply was larger than what was claimed No alarms at Bittrex exchange when dev deposited 500m tokens even tough max supply would be 80m

@camronmira Why would anyone buy and stake VVV instead of buying DIEM outright? There is a huge discount to buying DIEM outright compared to minting.

$VVV reminds me of terra LUNA in some ways (mechanism, not outcome) to be clear upfront: i'm not saying VVV is LUNA or headed anywhere near the same fate. I'm isolating one piece — the reflexive mint loop — and nothing else. With terra, demand for UST forced users to buy and burn LUNA to mint it. A reflexive loop that destroyed luna supply and drove price. Venice has a similar-feeling reflexivity on the surface: more demand for compute → more VVV staked → more diem minted → less liquid VVV. The real difference shows up on the downside. luna's reflexivity was tied to a fragile peg. When confidence broke, arbitrageurs could burn UST below peg to mint $1 of luna and dump it. Unbounded loop, hyperinflated supply, token went to zero. Venice isn't defending a peg. DIEM is a claim on real compute, not a synthetic dollar. Minting is driven by actual usage demand and locking svvv is reversible - burn DIEM, unlock VVV. No forced dilution, no unbounded issuance, no arbitrage loop to unwind. If anything the VVV loop is more measured than LUNA's ever was. Mint rate rises exponentially as DIEM approaches target supply, so the reflexivity dampens by design. Venice also has a lever LUNA never had -- 'target supply' itself can be adjusted to tune the curve if needed. Not saying VVV is risk-free. The thing to actually watch isn't a death spiral, it's the reverse unwind. if you mint DIEM, sell it, and DIEM rips later, you're buying back higher to unlock your VVV. Mass DIEM selling compresses DIEM, API demand returns, DIEM squeezes anyone caught short. Real dynamic but nothing catastrophic. Similar-feeling reflexivity on the way up. Fundamentally different failure mode on the way down. Thank you @ErikVoorhees for making tokenomics great again

Good morning class. For today’s lesson, we are going to learn about “damage control”. Damage control is a crisis management technique, where the goal is not to solve a problem, but to create the illusion that you are solving it. Protect the brand at all cost until it blows over!

This seems messed up actually - when do the boundaries stop moving? Anthropic only allows subscriptions with a real human pressing enter? You're going to have to verify with FaceID?
Peter Steinberger 🦞@steipete

Anthropic now blocks first-party harness use too 👀 claude -p --append-system-prompt 'A personal assistant running inside OpenClaw.' 'is clawd here?' → 400 Third-party apps now draw from your extra usage, not your plan limits. So yeah: bring your own coin 🪙🦞

I don't think it's surprising, and I don't think it's about open source. The economics just don't make sense. Claude Code subscriptions are built and priced to be part of the Anthropic ecosystem. Anything outside of that belongs in per-token consumption. And any companies not doing this are just being intellectually dishonest. These subscriptions are already heavily subsidized and priced to (hopefully) get to a good median on a distribution of per-user compute usage. Allowing third-party support on flat subscriptions is just a publicity stunt.

@steipete @davemorin Peter, the moment a model that comes better (or even at par) with Opus 4.6 arrives, I'm leaving these Anthropic bozos. They have a nice PR engine to create unimaginable hype and it's pretty obvious they didn't plan for long run money making, so yea 0 loyalty from end.
