Other than straight up robbing people, why introduce this @ScotRail ? #ScotFail "We’re introducing a new £10 minimum fare for journeys where a ticket hasn’t been purchased before boarding"

@ScotRail My gran is not going to be able to purchase tickets on her flip phone with no internet and she does not own a PC nor does she have Wi-Fi. Not very accessible for the older generation. You push for people to use public transport, but you’re excluding a whole demographic there

ℹ️ From 1 July this year ScotRail is introducing a £10 minimum fare for people who purposely board without a valid ticket. If that’s you, then use the next three months to get into the habit of buying a ticket before you board one of our trains. Staff will be reminding you about this throughout an education period until July, so nobody will be charged until then. Check out all the details, including exemptions, in this article. scotrail.co.uk/about-scotrail…

From July @ScotRail will charge a minimum £10 unless unless you purchase a ticket before hand, forcing customers to engage digitally either through website, app or ticket vendor machine or pay more for the pleasure. Sounds like 2 tier travel to me, what do you think?

@psco1 @ScotRail Well its up to you to turn up in time to buy a ticket. You can even buy them online before you leave the house or while walking to the station.

So if I'm running slightly late and I see the train coming as I'm walking towards the station, I best not run for it, if I don't get my ticket beforehand from the pish and puke covered vending machines, it'll now cost me £10 for my journey, wow. @ScotRail.

@ChrisBanbu59518 @ScotRail @ASLEFunion @JohnSwinney So he did make an announcement yet you said he didnt. In that area its not unusual to be stopped due to congestion so he has probably assumed that. They cannot use the loop without authorisation from network rail

@highlandgames @ScotRail @ASLEFunion @JohnSwinney nope he lied saying it was congestion and we’d be moving in a minute which was untrue it was 15 minutes later , in fact it was a broken down Airdrie train and there is a loop at Hyndland they could have used far sooner , but Scotrail are bad… feather bad staff!

Scotrail tasked them to prepare a bid for the Scotrail franchise which they won. CalMac is a publicly owned company. This is how Scotrail was nationalised. CalMac own the Co which runs the Scotrail franchise. Why Scotgov can mandate fare structures with prime time tickets abolished for eg.

Big THANK YOU @CalMacFerries @CalMac_Updates for delaying the departure of 1405 MV Lochnevis & wait for passengers on late running @ScotRail from Fort William. Missing that ferry wld have meant many people wouldn't have reached their island destination for Easter. 100% care.

@ScotRail There is no staff on the train to speak to. And the cold air is blowing from the overhead vent. How about someone tells the driver to just turn the heating on?

Hey @scotrail , your sticker says to tweet you with carriage issues. Juts letting you know the heating is busted on carriage 65103 of your 19:39 Glasgow Q St - Waverley service. Well I assume it’s busted cos the carriage is absolutely Baltic. 🥶

@ScotRail Btw you guys increase the prices 2 times per year already but services are always cancelled/delayed during the winter months. What's the point of people paying if the money doesn't actually reflect back to our experience while every penny goes to the CEOs who do nothing

@ScotRail So if you arrive at a station just as your train pulls up and you then board that train, you'll be charged £10 for that journey? For context a return from my local station to Glasgow is £4.90

🟡The SNP brought ScotRail into public ownership, scrapped peak rail fares for good, & have frozen ticket prices for 12 months. 🐎It’s a 2 horse race between the SNP & the Tories in Edinburgh Central. 🗳️Vote SNP & Angus Robertson to keep rail travel cheaper & in public hands.

@irikandji @AngusRobertson So tesco have a special offer on heinz beans, and the special offer finishes and the beans go back to normal price, is that a price increase?

@irikandji @AngusRobertson Nope nobody introduced peak fares. In the 1980s British rail introduced a cheaper off peak fare to encourage people to travel at quieter times. The "peak" fare was the normal fare.

@AngusRobertson Wasn’t it the SNP who introduced peak rail fares because Scotrail was losing money? Then removed them in a cynical, taxpayer-funded electioneering move?

@highlandgames @ChimeraX2021 @mark_omeara89 @SimonCalder @EdwardAdoo And you were told train operating companies going into public ownership is a recent policy You have yet to explain how it's good for British tax payers to take losses on infrastructure whilst foreign companies extract profit on tickett prices that are a mugging British consumers

Rail ticket fraud. At last, a gaping loophole in the system will close, from Wednesday 1 April. Currently unscrupulous passengers buy an Anytime or Off-peak ticket, make the journey, and if the ticket isn't clipped or scanned they claim a refund, less £5. independent.co.uk/travel/news-an…
