I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a little FOMO about not doing Blackhat trainings this year…but definitely looking forward to the briefings! See you this week, #BHUSA2025!

Does anyone know a college student or recent graduate who's attending @defcon for the first time next week?

@dakacki Keep spreading the good habits my friend. You’re a big part of why I am comfortable speaking out about my own mental health, burnout, and self care. I’ve tried to pay that forward now that I am a manager and mentor. Thanks for being a pivotal part of the mental health movement.

I don’t think it’s ever been more crucial to mentor the next gen of hackers and security professionals than it is right now. I think we’ve made incredible strides in putting a premium on self care and mental health. I’ve seen the stigma lifting and we’re lucky it is cuz…🧵

Hey infosec twitter - I’m looking for references to, articles on, or verified reports of APT or criminal groups linked to insider threat, IP theft, physical initial access, remote worker fraud, etc. Think the KnowBe4/DPRK breach scenarios. Please RT! #infosec #cti #insiderthreat

@threatpunter howdy! have been following the secops community rules cleanup; curious what causes a rule to classify as deprecated? some are obvious like old iocs, but some seem relevant. Is that just duplicated coverage from curated? Happy to chat offline or in dm!

@MalwareJake @RSAConference I was just wondering the same for blackhat / defcon speakers. Entering the US for hacking conferences seems like an easy “justification” to deny or detain with the current administration…

Serious question: How many @RSAConference participants from outside the US will pull out, not willing to risk denied entry or detention? Related question: How many actually are denied entry or detained? It won't be zero...

Since I'm spending my morning reviewing a "forensics report" for a client, I'll just implore you: * This is NOT something you can just DIY * Call an adult * For the love of fsck, do NOT let your IT MSP conduct the investigation. This errors on this one are easily a 7 figure mistake.

Taking the GIAC GSTRT (SANS LDR514/Strategic Leadership) this week, pleased to see that the author included a basic index in the supplemental materials. That’s an enormous change from past years.

An unelected shadow government is conducting a hostile takeover of the federal government. DOGE is not a real government agency. DOGE has no authority to make spending decisions. DOGE has no authority to shut programs down or to ignore federal law. DOGE’s conduct cannot be allowed to stand. Congress must take action to restore the rule of law.

Unfortunately, this is one of many similar experiences I endured while at Tanium. This is not to say they don't have some amazing people there. They do. However, things like this can ruin a company because it's a sign of bigger problems within the org.

🧵When I was at Tanium, I was working on PrintNightmare right before I was laid off. I was in a chat channel with @cube0x0 as he was releasing the code based on the researcher's publicized github. I worked with one of the security SMEs at Tanium to write a detection that many
