Fuel prices are expected to rise to
£1.50L - unleaded
£1.80L - diesel
Within a week.
This is what happens in a world addicted to fossil fuels.

Standby those who took the IOG fixed at the same time as me last week. Tom's rate has gone down to 4.5p per kWh for the offpeak.
It sounds like emails are coming out.
Standby and it would be cool to hear what you've got.
Tom Nicholas@tpnicho
@garysmi @sarah_go_green @OctopusEnergy Only took my fix a week or so ago, after Sarah’s post actually! I was a 7.5 for overnight

Unfit to be PM then, I’m sorry.
If you can’t manage a council, how can we possibly trust you with anything else.

@sarah_go_green @OctopusEnergy via DM I've just been told the following:
"All fixed smart tariff customers will see a reduction of 3.5p from their unit rates (peak, off-peak and day) regardless of when they signed up for the fix, standing charges will not change."
English

I am wondering whether @OctopusEnergy is the 8p per kWh night-time rate on Intelligent Octopus Go from the 1st April 2026 for all versions of the tariff?
I am on a 12-month fixed of IOG (which now seems to be available again). Is the 5.5p going to be included in the 1st April rates for me too?

@ZoeJardiniere It's incredible what comes out of his mouth and no one batters an eyelid.

And there it is. A Prime Minister who consults with his team ( which includes experts) versus a President who makes his mind up on his own… dangerous dangerous man.
Aaron Rupar@atrupar
Trump: "The prime minster of UK told me 'I'm meeting with my team to make a determination.' I said, 'You don't need to meet with a team. You're the prime minster. You can make your own. Why do you need to meet with your team to find out if you're gonna send some mine sweepers or boats to us?' It's the same thing here."

@unusual_whales Let me guess: he’s going to declare victory.

@DeborahMeaden .@DeborahMeaden hi Deborah. Is there a way I can send you a DM? Would like to discuss my renewable startup and feel like you’re the perfect person for it. Long shot I know.

Reform are strong in all of the polls except @YouGov.
They are using bizarre adjustments to suppress the true figures.
No wonder their share price has fallen by over 80 percent in recent years!

English

I Was Fooled by Donald Trump
I’ll admit it.
I voted for Donald Trump.
Back then, like millions of others, I believed the promises.
Drain the swamp.
Stand up to the global elites.
Put the people first.
It sounded like the beginning of a revolution.
But years later… the truth looks very different.
The wars didn’t stop.
The power structures didn’t fall.
The same financial empires still control the system.
And the people?
Still struggling.
It makes you wonder…
Was the outsider image real — or just another performance inside the same political machine?
Sometimes the hardest thing to admit is this:
We wanted to believe.
But believing doesn’t make it true.
If more people start questioning the system, maybe real change can finally happen.
Share this if you think people need to start asking harder questions.

@sarah_go_green @OctopusEnergy I’m fixed till early June.
Yup. If things escalate I’ll get a new fixed in place.
English

@himarkbrown @OctopusEnergy Yes if you haven't fixed yet for gas i can see why you'd do this. It's limited choice now. You'll be protected by the cap until 1st July. Going forward it's all based on how or if this conflict end quickly.
English

If you're your rate with @OctopusEnergy when i was shouting (since sunday) well done.
If you didn't the positive thing, if there is one, is that we are entering warmer months AND the Energy Price Cap will protect you until the 1st July.
After 1st July it'll be based on wholesale prices now and for the next 2 months but again it's warmer months with longer days.
It's 1st October that's the concern. We can't predict what will happen in the next few weeks and you can't change that.
There is a fixed still available but it's got a £75 exit fee for a standard fixed.
The same applies to IOG and Go plus Cosy which has £25 exit fees.

Dear #MAGA,
It's amazing how fast you shut up about gas prices now.
Your entire ideology is a lie. It's one insanely huge LIE.

@tonybarber68390 I’m with Octopus on Intelligent Go. My friends EV tariff with another company became more expensive so he switched to Octopus, too.
English

Yet another fuel crisis, but it doesn’t have to be this way.
The last time we had a fuel crisis was 2022 after Russia invaded Ukraine. It meant filling up was expensive when petrol was hitting near £2 per litre, but I was fortunate enough to own an EV by then.
However, it was the faux fuel shortage of September 2021 caused by a shortage of HGV drivers that ultimately gave me that nudge to go electric having queued for over an hour to get the last dregs of petrol from the fuel station next to Buncefield refinery.
I wanted to take back control, and in going electric, I was in control. I could pump fuel directly from house to car overnight at a cost of £5.25 for 350 winter miles of range. A stark contrast to the £85 for 45 litres back in 2022 for 350 miles of driving in my wife’s Mazda CX-3.
This afternoon as I walked down to Sainsbury’s I was reminded of both of these events from our recent past.
Energy, particularly that which is drilled and refined, is so fragile to geopolitical events - which are seemingly and unfortunately more common - was a wake up call to my wife and I.
We both drive EVs now and our lives are positively affected by the change.
We have more spare money and we do everything in our EVs that we did in our petrol cars without any inconvenience.
It’s as simple as that.
EVs may not suit all, and that’s fine. But just remember, there is a way in which we can be impacted less by geopolitical events and super-wealthy oil companies looking to extract more profit from motorists. EVs are that cheat code.

@himarkbrown Hi there, we're sorry for the delay. Can you DM us so we can follow up?
English

.@StarbucksUK came to one of your coffee shops during the week and was told they had no vegan cream because they just end up throwing it away. They said only available at weekends. Came back today, the weekend and they don’t have any apparently. Lost a customer.
English

@StarbucksUK @fancypants018 So you’re returning to using plastic lids?
English

@fancypants018 Hi there, we’re sorry for the delay. We’re temporarily using a different hot cup lid to ensure we can continue to serve all beverages without disruption. The lid has been fully tested and approved, and we’ll return to our usual lid shortly. 😬
English

@StarbucksUK These new paper lids are grim. Not sure why the change, seeing as cold drinks are sold in 100% plastic cups AND lids 🤷🏻♂️
