@DemieTournes Many of the people arguing for or against it don't even know that it's just a private server and not a full copy of everything from the game. I think that the legal notice that was added to the GitHub repo covers enough.

The situation with the Nier private server is one of the most interesting cultural clashes i've seen in this platform.
I might have gotten too much into it, but i really felt like it was worth my time to understand the JP reasoning and explain the western logic on the subject.

Adding that it is a lot nicer to drop eg "-chan" in subs because that's an extra 5 chars to work with to ensure nothing else gets dropped in what little space you have to work with.
Max 2 lines, max 42 chars per line.
Fansubs don't have these limitations to work within.

I think this whole honorifics thing just ultimately comes down to preference. With yourself, clients, and fans. Some prefer -san/-chan/etc. and others prefer a more natural-sounding English translation. So, you can't really please everyone in the end result.

Esto es simplemente porque el formato de subtitulado que usan la mayoría de plataformas (.srt) solo permite que se muestre un subtítulo a la vez en pantalla. Por tanto, se prioriza el diálogo hablado porque se asume que es más importante que el texto en pantalla.

Trying to watch Komi Can't Communicate for the first time, but Netflix decided that the text boxes (there's alot that show up) aren't important to translate for the girl who has to communicate with text. Having to go to fan subs just to not miss out on dialogue/context

@KioTheCoolAlt @feh_shijima The option is missing, maybe the language setting got corrupted during the update and the system didn't have additional checks to make sure that the language in a Japanese language console was always Japanese.

@feh_shijima I checked on Twitter and I couldn't find anyone else with the same issue, so this must be very rare. There are many people who would want to change a Japanese-only console to English, since it's cheaper. I'm surprised that a bug can do it. Maybe Nintendo support can help you.
