@ronnierheingold @JNavok That $1.3 billion is basically their entire yearly payroll expense IIRC. Executive pay is less than a rounding error compared to general payroll.

Homelessness in America is a vastly different issue than biblical time poverty. The homeless in America are drug users and actually dangerous. It takes proper training to aid them and a majority of pastors are not equipped to do so.

As a pastor at a church with mostly homeless congregants I’ve become hyper aware of how anti-homeless sentiment has seeped into every corner our society. Absolutely disturbing. If you don’t have empathy for the homeless you don’t have Christ dwelling within you.

@TemplarJosh88 I suspect the closest period analogue to the modern habitually criminal fent zombie would be a bandit. They're not doing this out of need unless you view fent and meth as parts of Maslow's hierarchy. They have plenty of resources available, but those resources require sobriety.

This is because in the modern West, being homeless is a choice for the VAST majority of homeless people. That said, Jesus never said to be kind only to the poor who have no choice. So whether this is relevant at all to the Christian commission is certainly up for debate.

@SS94683 @James32980438 Anywhere with functioning homeless resources will generally use sobriety to filter out the 95% in favor of the short term homeless. Short termers stay helped once they're helped.

@James32980438 Addiction and psychiatric issues are responsible for ~95% of long term homeless, sure. Stupid decisions leading to short term homelessness probably = 10-20% of total population, but long term homeless disconnect from society, they're the problem people that everybody notices

~99% of homeless are homeless by choice, and that choice is being a PoS that either won't give up drugs or take their medication. Reopen the institutions and work camps.

Exactly. Morriwind was made by a team of 40 and Skyrim was made by a team of 100. Starfield, warts and all, was made by a team of 500. And that's not counting external talents and co-developers which exploded between Skyrim and Starfield. Starfield has like 4000 people in the credits.

This statement is just bizarre, considering those games were made by much smaller teams compared to today's standards. We could very well see a small studio come out with a reasonably sized multiplayer game, one that they never intended to have more than a few thousand MAUs, blow up into the next MMO. You could definitely see the next Morrowind or WoW come from, we'll, anywhere.

@JNavok @MarkLiberto If they're smart they'll follow the IBEW model. A collective bargainer for the collectively employed and a guild hall for those who aren't.

It wouldn't surprise me if there are already classified hybrid systems in use because IR is weatherblind and better at long range and optical can't be flared off because it knows what a plane looks like. The optical side of the package can stop the IR side before it impersonates a moth.

@ArchivistPulp @BrianNiemeier Automotive is just one segment. Look at the current Ukrainian Robot War. A Shahed-136 is $35k and it has a low thermal signature. It doesn't make sense to shoot them down with $200k Stingers. Optically guided interceptors cost $15k and do just as well against Shaheds.

@ArchivistPulp @BrianNiemeier Semi-driverless. The stuff is used for modern lane keeping, blind spot detection, and driver assist features. The Chinese Omnivision is a major supplier in the segment. They're on the same chopping block that already got Hauwei, Hikvision, and a few router brands.

How much of the global image sensor market does Sony already control? More importantly, how much of the western aligned image sensor market does Sony control? What recent actions and rumblings by the US gov't are leading Sony into believing that they will need to rapidly scale automotive MLA production? How much of the automotive MLA market does Sony already control and how much do they stand to gain if current US gov't actions continue in the direction they're trending? Gamers are collateral damage.

@BrianNiemeier Any question that involves gamers at all is the wrong question. Zoom out more. What is a MLA and why does Sony value the ability to make those more than gamers? Why did Sony allow the components division to take that plant from entertainment?

Merchant interactions in CRPGs have a well-polished template: you play a sound cue like "Khajiit has wares if you have coin," and you bring up the fucking trade interface. Replacing that with a micro-scene isn't fun, doesn't add to gameplay, but it's very Premium Mediocre.

One of the things that (imo) worked well for the first Neverwinter Nights is that your character is just some random dude looking for a payday, getting caught up in some serious shit, and just plowing through it like a bulldozer. It's basically the quintessential D&D game.
St. Rev. Dr. Rev ⏭️☯️🏴😻@St_Rev

"oh they write evil with such depth" yes because there's no good in the universe they developed, everyone's explicitly evil or up to their balls in demon contracts. which makes it an *utterly shit* D&D game for that alone, never mind every other aspect of the game.
