@TRHLofficial And you give an example of a family that isn’t doing that. Because almost no one would do that at 32 weeks unless there was no other choice.

@thayermoeller @BrianBalfourNC Results for whom? Which results? It pays my salary so I can feed my children and I do good work with my students. Overall? The NC education system is in much the same boat as the rest of the US.

@BrianBalfourNC What's that gotten us? Has there been any improvement in results? Or has that money been wasted? I'm a cynic so I have my guess, but I'd love to see data on outcomes...

@_6signxxx I can’t get past the fact that his Latin translation of “fetus” is not accurate. It doesn’t mean what he confidently says it means.

@mattforney All of these things were possible and it was perfectly reasonable and sensible to be concerned about everything on this list. Also, we don’t know that these things won’t still happen.

We didn't get a forever war. You weren't drafted to die for Israel. Gas didn't go to $6 a gallon. We didn't put boots on the ground. We didn't get a flood of refugees. None of your predictions came true. And yet none of you will admit you were wrong.

@DavidCole_Gtown @nybooks The 14th Amendment was written/passed/intended only for the former slaves in the USA to become U.S. citizens in 1866-68 etc. not for the whole world to come to the USA and have anchor-babies.

Here’s why Trump should lose the birthright citizenship case being argued this am in SCOTUS. The Constitution’s text, history, and Supreme Court precedent are all against him. Born in the USA nybooks.com/articles/2026/… via @nybooks

Several people who were at the US Capitol during the January 6, 2021, insurrection are suing the police agencies that worked to defend the building that day, asking a federal court to award them millions of dollars in damages for the “physical and emotional injuries” they say were inflicted on them by law enforcement. cnn.it/414GbMX

@EveryoneKnws1 @WSJ I don’t think that’s accurate in the slightest. Everyone knew the border was an important issue. It’s been an important issue for 50 years. 85% of the Public wants universal background checks. But that’s also unlikely to happen. The amendment process is insanely difficult.

@historicity @WSJ You might be right about the politics. But impossible and unlikely are two different things. Ten years ago nobody thought the border would be the defining issue of two consecutive elections either. Things change when the public demands it.

@EveryoneKnws1 @WSJ I’m not going to argue we couldn’t have an amendment to revise it. Obviously that’s correct. But that’s about as likely as a gun control amendment.

Correct. They didn't anticipate 250,000 births a year to people who entered illegally. That's exactly the point. The Constitution is a living document with an amendment process for exactly this reason. The founders built in a way to fix what they couldn't foresee. That's what April 1st and a clarifying amendment are about.

@kamo_mash @WSJ I mean, we only have 150 years of applying the amendment exactly as it is written. So yeah, I’d say that would have been a heavy lift that would require your pre-frontal cortex to be detached from the rest of your brain.

@WildWestNV @WSJ Let’s pretend this isn’t just racist paranoia and this is a real thing. If the Chinese did this at this level, after 100 years, they’d still be less than 3% of the population and that’s assuming the rest of the US population didn’t grow at all.
