@realJoshByrnes @Adriksh Zed has the smoothest feel to it with vim keybinds, it also doesn't eat up your ram unlike VScode does. Even Jetbrains feel clunky sometimes.

@Adriksh I personally don't care about branding, but Jetbrains feels sluggish to me. Visual Studio is slightly better but still feels bloated. Despite the crazy good performance, Zed doesn't feel right to me either (I really want to love it). VSCodium based IDEs "feel" fast.

it's wild how VS Code became the industry standard while JetBrains spent years building actually superior IDEs that nobody wants to pay for anymore

you think your React app with Redis is fast? C++ talking straight to SQLite with Linux APIs handles 100k requests before your stack even finishes parsing JSON. we started calling layers of abstraction "performance" and forgot what speed actually is.

Python developers are mostly mediocre Worked with a guy a few years ago on a project. We were on a tight deadline and he was moving fast, shipping features non-stop. At first, I was impressed. Then I looked at the code. Just imports, libraries, shortcuts.Everything abstracted away. No clue what’s happening underneath. I thought maybe he’s just optimizing for speed.But then it hit me: That’s how most people use Python. No understanding of memory No sense of performance No depth in fundamentals In C++ or Java, you can’t get away with that. Just write, run, ship And somehow this is called productive.
