@Adriksh I personally don't care about branding, but Jetbrains feels sluggish to me. Visual Studio is slightly better but still feels bloated. Despite the crazy good performance, Zed doesn't feel right to me either (I really want to love it). VSCodium based IDEs "feel" fast.

it's wild how VS Code became the industry standard while JetBrains spent years building actually superior IDEs that nobody wants to pay for anymore

@antigravity You forgot to mention that can either pay USD $2,999.88/year for AI Ultra, or they'll only get a "taste test" of the AI models.

To all the Firebase developers exploring new AI workflows: welcome! 🤝 Import your Firebase Studio projects into Antigravity to pick up where you left off. You'll have access to Gemini models, Agent Skills, and a built-in Browser Agent. Antigravity supports core Firebase services including Auth, Firestore, and Hosting via the Firebase MCP server. It also adds new integrations like Google Search and Nano Banana, with the flexibility to run locally or over SSH to a VM.
Firebase@Firebase

Firebase now integrates with @GoogleAIStudio, accelerating your path from prompt to production 💫 With a single prompt, you can build full-stack apps connected to Firestore for secure storage and Firebase Authentication for user identity.

We’re evolving Google AI plans to give you more control over how you build. Every subscription includes built-in AI credits, which can now be used for Antigravity, giving you a seamless path to scale. Google AI Pro is the home for the practical builder, hobbyists, students, and developers who live in the IDE and don't necessarily rely on an agent. This plan features generous limits for Gemini Flash, with a baseline quota included to "taste test" our most advanced premium models. Google AI Ultra serves as the daily driver for those shipping at the highest scale who need consistent, high-volume access to our most complex models. If you’re on Pro but need "extra juice" for a heavy sprint or deeper access to premium models, simply top up your AI credits to customize your plan. Keep building. Keep shipping.

@Katie848 @NSWHealth Between 2000 and 2022, only 4 deaths from measles were reported in Aus. In contrast, between 1956–1975 there were 356 deaths caused by measles. @Katie848 I'd much prefer the lower illness and death rate, particularly when it mostly kills 0-4 year olds. Thank you @NSWHealth 👍

@NSWHealth Really, two cases good grief, back in the fifties measles was a normal everyday childhood illness, just keep the affected children home and get on with life!!!

NSW Health is advising people in Sydney to be alert for signs and symptoms of measles after being notified of two new confirmed cases who are not known to each other. One of the cases acquired measles locally.

@AitumTV A customisable chat overlay! The twitch app did an amazing job when it existed, but since then I haven't found a single good overlay to show chat/feed over the top of my game.

@davepl1968 - Kill wordpad.exe - Enhance notepad.exe w/ AI and MD - Create edit.exe The result is two arguably less useful word processors than the two we had, in the name of enhancements. Somehow, I do feel like it was an upgrade (mostly because edit.exe runs in the terminal window)

It's time for Microsoft to have another XPSP2 moment. No more AI, no more features. Just fixes. When I was working on Windows XP, Blaster hit. It was a big enough deal that we set aside all feature work. For the next several months, all we did was improve security. We didn't add "security features"; we fixed bugs. Lots of bugs. Until there weren't security bugs to fix anymore. Then we fixed the ones we didn't know about yet. Put more simply, we stopped trying to "add value" to the product through features that PMs thought users would like, and instead we focused on the things that had been important for a long time, but overlooked. Like performance and configurability today. Rather than trying to improve and add value to the system through new AI features -now-, I argue it's time for Microsoft to stabilize, improve, and make the system more performant. And more usable for power users. Just for one release. Just till it doesn't suck.

Is anyone actually able to get Google's antigravity to work? I see all these amazing posts, but mine still just errors out after about 60 seconds

@antigravity Now we can log in, we've reached our quota in moments. Thankfully @github Copilit Pro (free) still works in VS Code. Claude undoing some of the changes Gemini made. I really wanted this to work out... It sounded promising!

@LundukeJournal @torproject What part of Tor couldn't be written in Go (or some other garbage collected language) if they really cared about memory leaks? I don't believe in the performance hit myths.

The @torproject is rewriting Tor in Rust because “it is naturally more secure than C.” The summary of the project reads like an over-the-top marketing brochure for Rust. “According to our estimations, Rust would make at least half of the security flaws we've identified impossible.” “Rust's efficiency and our trust in it enable us to write code more quickly.” “[The Rust code] is not only a technical masterpiece, but also a joy for developers to understand and improve.” tpo.pages.torproject.net/core/arti/abou…

@AitumTV @tiktok_us The only reason I rarely stream on TikTok is the lack of built-in support with Autumn Stream Suite. I have a stream key, but the setup is painful and it changes often. Once we have TikTok on-board, I'll be streaming there as often as I do on Kick/Twitch/YouTube. @TikTokAU

@davepl1968 So much hate for the centred start button, which is almost a necessity for us 32:9 ultra widescreen users. XP was peak design, although I love the search now, except it's just blank when there's an internet issue. Also miss the old (proper) find all files from Win9x
