Older generations simply dont understand the socioeconomic factors facing young people today. Why arent young people starting families? Getting jobs? Buying houses? Getting their driver’s license? It comes down to one simple thing. MONEY! Boomers specifically were paid, when valued in gold, multiples higher than what young people earn today. Boomers paid 3x median wages for a house, young people have to pay 7x. Wages went much farther 50 years ago, despite being lower nomimally. Boomers werent competing with tens of millions of migrants for jobs and housing, like young americans are today. Increased supply of labor drives wages down, and increased demand for housing drives real estate prices up. Young people were sold out. Older generations today are subsidized and benefit from socialism, while young people endure brutal capitalism and told that they dont have nice things because they get a cup coffee in the morning.
