@Ironicsisyphus @RichardHanania All fair points. I don't follow Richard, but he was suggested to me by the algorithm. Sometimes tone is lost in text, especially if you're unfamiliar with a person.

France has a law where employees must work one day a year for free. Instead of paying them, the employer gives the government money, and the government spends it on old people. Why don’t we just declare everyone under 60 a slave and be done with it?

Tampa: 92 with a heat index pushing it over 100 as the crushing humidity flexes its wrath San Diego: 74 and not a cloud in the sky, with a crisp breeze. Yeah, I don't regret agreeing to higher gas prices at all and that's a stone-cold fact.

@mehdirhasan Did NASA build the rockets? Or did they contract that out to the private sector? The Saturn V rockets were made by Boeing, North American, and Douglas, all private sector companies.

“Bernie, your socialism would never allow a SpaceX to be built.” Hey Bill, who got man to the moon? Was it the government or the private sector?
Bill Ackman@BillAckman

.@BernieSanders , it is a time to celebrate. @elonmusk has created enormous value for society by building @SpaceX, driving down the cost of rocket launches and creating a global satellite communication network that has brought high speed, low-cost internet and communication access to hundreds of millions and eventually billions of people along with critical advantages for our military and our nation’s defense. SpaceX and its technologies will cause an acceleration in the growth of wages and wealth creation globally, including in some of the poorest communities in the U.S. and around the world. Access to low-cost, high speed communications everywhere will allow children around the world to be educated, families to build businesses, and life-saving medical knowledge and care to be available everywhere. SpaceX will materially bring down the cost of compute, advancing AI and humanity. Meanwhile, 4,000 SpaceX employees yesterday became millionaires, including hourly wage employees who you claim you are trying to help. The Elon Musks of the world drive growth, global GDP, and provide access to goods and services at lower cost that would otherwise not exist. Elon’s nominal trillionaire status is due to his ownership of SpaceX, Tesla, Neuralink, the Boring Company and his other initiatives that have brought new technologies that improve our everyday lives. Elon is not sitting on a trillion dollar pile of cash, jewelry and gold. He is using his controlling stakes in his companies to advance mankind. Elon’s companies don’t pay dividends. They reinvest all of their capital to accelerate innovation and value creation. Elon is working 24/7 for all of us. He deserves respect and appreciation, not smears. Bernie, your socialism would never allow a SpaceX to be built. Socialism has only proven to impoverish mankind and lead to death and destruction. We need to create the conditions for more SpaceXs to be built, not attack the great entrepreneurs who are helping to advance our country.

@McCormickProf A couple of things can be true. Having one justice per judicial circuit is not a terrible idea. Moving from 9 to 13 justices in some politically neutral way would be ideal but probably isn't possible in the current environment.

Court-packing by either party would unleash a dynamic that would destroy the independence of the judiciary. Its advocacy by a politician should be treated by sane and reasonable people of both major parties as disqualifying that person for office. It is worse than a crank idea.
Acyn@Acyn

Buttigieg: Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that there have to be nine Supreme Court justices. That one doesn't even take a constitutional amendment. It just takes a readiness to set up a court that fits this country.  We could have 13 seats matching the district structure of the federal judiciary, but also a process that makes it less partisan. We cannot have partisan warfare every time there's an opening on the court

@marthagimbel And home prices are due to a different structural problem - lack of building after the 2008 financial crisis plus those cheap interest rates in response.

@marthagimbel 6%-7% mortgage interest for a 30yr are close to historical norms. The low-interest rate environment just prior to and after Covid are the anomoly. This is anecdata, but the interest rate I got in 2002 with excellent credit was 6.375%. What makes the math hard is home prices.

New from me for @TheAtlantic: the consequences of rising national debt and high deficits feel far away, but actually they're already here. The government’s deficits have saddled many American families with higher costs, largely from rising interest rates. 1/

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna
I will be putting forward a resolution to void the fraudulent impeachment of President Trump during his first term in office. Russia collusion never happened. This has been proven by evidence released by ODNI Gabbard. It was a terrible lie that tore this country apart, and was plotted by a weaponized intelligence agency under Obama. There is no monetary value that can be assigned to the damage this lie caused. It destroyed families’ relationships with one another, our country’s comradery, and our relationship with another nuclear super power (Russia) that could have resulted in war. Thank goodness the admin has started to restore that relationship, but HISTORY should reflect what actually transpired.

FDRs plan didn’t end the Lochner Court. The votes were in well before FDR announced his packing plan.
Ro Khanna@RoKhanna

.@PeteButtigieg is right on 13 justices & need 18-year term limits. Republicans took the Court to 10 under Lincoln, cut it under Johnson, & expanded it to 9 under Grant. FDR's plan ended the Lochner Court. Our generation must reform the modern Dred Scott Court.

@ReubenR80027912 The cap is $184.5k this year. The real interesting thing is how much the cap has jumped the last few years. The jumps are outpacing inflation. It looks like a backdoor tax increase to me.
