@DonCryptonium I think it should be doable with authz. It might also be interesting to look into agorics orchestration, if you don't want to write everything from scratch.

@hoho_yo Yes we would like to have auto rebalancing. It cannot be done as simply as it seems as it transaction trigger. So we’re trying to figure out the best way for it. It would have to be something like third party delegation or so that does scheduled transactions.

@DonCryptonium and ... no ledger support :( But honest question, why no automatic re-balancing where the manager sets the interval (like every day, week or w/e) and only intervenes in very volatile times? Also can coin+stable fees ever beat impermanent loss?

@hxrts Isn‘t it nonetheless an expression of balanced power? Subjugate in one regard and being subjugated on the same level in another. Maybe this is a bit martial and I don’t want to deny the constructive aspect of such relationships, but they are fragil unlike superintelligence.

@hoho_yo it’s not that power can’t factor into a relationship, but configurations of conscious beings is often much more complex than a servant-master dichotomy. productive dialogue, cohabitation, symbiosis—all forms of dynamic equilibria.

I really appreciate V’s humanist impulse, but can’t help feeling that the panic over AI superintelligence is moreso a manifestation of our culturally conditioned fear of the Other, and a resignation to frame the problem in terms of subjugation.
vitalik.eth@VitalikButerin

AI done wrong is making new forms of independent self-replicating intelligent life AI done right is mecha suits for the human mind If we do the former without the latter, we risk permanent human disempowerment. If we do the latter, flourishing superinteligent human civilization

@hdevalence Maybe I‘m understanding it wrong, but your solution still seems just like a better organized way to react to full out desaster (obv in this case a great idea). As an outsider it seems like the us doesnt have any safety net before the worst case.

@RnaudBertrand The implication about the nation thailand as a whole in the first paragraph seems a bit too dramatic after reading all of it. Nonetheless very interesting. Thanks

This is a story that everyone is speaking about in China right now. A Chinese actor - Wang Xing 👇 - was lured to Thailand by a fake movie production company that told him they wanted him to star in a movie. When he arrived in the airport in Bangkok he was greeted by a chauffeur, arranged by the so-called production team, who later drove him to Myawaddy – a city in Myanmar known for being a hub of scam operations. He was of course being abducted by one of these numerous gangs that operate in largely lawless Myanmar. They have huge scam operations going on there, typically trying to scam Chinese nationals in various ways and often operated by various Chinese mafias. Which is why you're seeing the Chinese government being so involved in trying to ensure Myanmar gets its act together (they for instance notoriously managed to bring down the "Ming family" mafia gang who owned the notorious Crouching Tiger Villa scam centre in Kokang, near the Chinese border in Myanmar's Shan State: globaltimes.cn/page/202412/13…). These scam operations are often staffed by people like Wang Xing who were abducted into it and are forced to work for free (i.e. slavery) until they scam enough money for the gangs. Sometimes, if they're rich enough, they are also held for ransom. Luckily in Wang Xing's case, on the way there he managed to keep sending his location to his girlfriend in China, until his phone was taken away from him at the Myanmar border. His girlfriend then created so much buzz about it in social media, shared by some of China's biggest celebrities (like singer Lay Zhang and actor Qin Lan), that it alerted the Chinese and Thai authorities. We don't know exactly how his rescue occurred, just that within less than 48 hours he'd been freed (apparently by the Thai army, although it's unclear). The case shows how sophisticated these mafias have become in their targeting methods. They're specifically crafting schemes to trap entertainment industry professionals. And Wang Xing's case is far from isolated: the China Federation of Radio and Television Association revealed in a statement on Tuesday that "many actors" have fallen victim to these fake overseas film shoot promises, suffering "serious damage to their personal and financial security." According to Wang Xing there were approximately 50 other Chinese nationals being held at the same facility as him. At this stage I don't believe we know if they were rescued alongside with him (I'm reading conflicting reports on this). All in all, victims are likely in the thousands: a group of Chinese families have started a petition urging the government to help find their missing relatives - the number of cases has already climbed to more than 600, and continues to rise. Some estimates - for instance by the UN - mention that as many as 120,000 people may "have been potentially trafficked into scam compounds [in Myanmar]" (roasiapacific.iom.int/sites/g/files/…) The case is also extremely embarrassing for Thailand which increasingly relies on Chinese tourism, which is probably why the Thai authorities were so quick to act. Thai officials, eager to contain potential damage ahead of Chinese New Year, have emphasized that no Thai nationals were involved in Wang's trafficking. But even as they dealt with his case, they were already investigating the disappearance of another Chinese model in the same border region. Wang's case has brought unprecedented attention to these scam operations, but it also raises several uncomfortable questions: will the thousands of others victims be saved too, and how many more will be trafficked before these criminal networks are shut down?

@ZaidJilani Do you think this is a useful analysis? I don’t think there are many historians assessing Hitler as an especially smart person. Nonetheless he was able to reach an incredible number of people

America sees a tiny glimpse of what Canada and Australia deals with every year with wildfires and all of a sudden there is a massive climate emergency. Fires are healthy for the environment. Housing gets in the way of what would otherwise be a normal environmental event. These events are why Australia does back burning every single year in the off season. Learn how to do it.

I'm currently writing a spew on why we need decentralized stablecoins and it feels redundant everytime. Like I'm just circling the same ideas and then wondering why no one cares. So maybe the real question should be, "why are decentralized stablecoins the most valuable protocol to build?"

@AirdropGlideapp I don’t think the lsm can mint lsds without permission of a user (and then do w/e, if there is a backdoor), but I never looked into it tbh

@hoho_yo I think the risk is sitting in staked ATOM, not sitting in the LSD? (As the LSM is enabled on Cosmos Hub by default).

ProTip: You don't need to wait 21 days to unstake your $ATOM! Is your ATOM staked, but you need access to your funds immediately? Did you know you can use the Liquid Staking Module (LSM) to get your ATOM without waiting for the 21 day unbond period? Just head to @dropdotmoney: app.drop.money/stake?referral… Connect your wallet, click Staked Balance, and choose your validator. Here your can instantly convert your staked ATOM to $dATOM, which you can then sell straight away on @SkipProtocol: go.skip.build Good luck! Disclaimer: Don't invest unless you're prepared to lose all the money you invest. This is a high-risk investment and you should not expect to be protected if something goes wrong. Take 2 mins to learn more.

@AirdropGlideapp Exactly, it’s not one, but even a couple of actions to receive funds. So there is exposure. I don’t think the risk is particulary high, but it should at least be mentioned. Maybe someone sees this and sits in the lsd for a while as a result.

@hoho_yo Well, if you're using the LSM to access your funds immediately, you're not going to be exposed? As you'll use it one time, then sell your ATOM? (All within a couple of clicks).
