@Roshanjnu @naalmot @NishantTISS One imagines that all of HT’s data team scored 100/100 in maths and stats but the graphics on the pages is not the place to flaunt it. Not sure how many readers would understand these jargons. Not so difficult to make it reader friendly. Learn from Bloomberg/reuters. @HT_Ed

💢 REPORT | Opening Strikes in U.S.-Israeli Bombing Campaign Targeted Heart of Iran’s Pistachio Trade Iran was once the world’s leading pistachio producer. Today, USDA data show the U.S., led by California, accounts for roughly 65% of global output, while Iran’s share has fallen to about 18%. In the first week of the war, reports and geolocated satellite imagery indicated strikes in and around Rafsanjan, the heart of Iran’s pistachio sector, including apparent damage to pistachio warehouse facilities near the airport. The Resnick family, owners of The Wonderful Company and dominant players in California’s pistachio industry, have used political influence to secure vast water rights in drought-stricken regions, at the expense of local communities. The 2025 documentary Pistachio Wars examines their longstanding backing of pro-Israel lobbying groups, arguing that hawkish policies toward Iran align with their commercial interests, as weakening a key global competitor benefits their bottom line. 🎥 Pistachio Wars (2025) trailer.

@ShekharGupta Gupta ji, this is a conversation between serious journos. You are no longer one. Your spine is so crooked now it’s best to not butt in.Perhaps read the stuff that you spike everyday, ideas you & your editors shoot down and columnists you no longer publish. @AssalRad @mehdirhasan

It’s an incredible piece of reporting. Great journalism. The reporters, editors who put put it together and the NYT must be so proud. The first credible investigation fixing US responsibility on the girls’ school bombing.
Malachy Browne@malachybrowne

I reported this story and have been working around the clock since Saturday to cover the deaths and obtain definitive evidence so that we can confidently assign responsibility. We've been reviewing photos of the dust covered bodies of children and verifying their names against the names scrawled on little coffins. We've been debunking false claims about the attack and that the harrowing cemetery photo isn't real. And while it appeared obvious to many early on that the U.S. or Israel hit the school, it takes days to sift through, pinpoint and analyze the evidence. It took four days before a new satellite image we ordered came through so we could confidently assess the damage and the types of weapons used. All that reporting and cross checking and the production of the visuals showing it takes time. But it ultimately allows us to more confidently assert U.S. responsibility, explain our rationale and add to the body of reporting that officials should be challenged with. It's easy to critique a headline, and I agree language matters, but you diminish the reporting. We're not justifying anything, we're stating where the reporting points responsibility, and quoting legal experts on the laws of armed conflict. Here's a gift link nytimes.com/2026/03/05/wor…

@Zakka_Jacob why dont you speak to a woman in Iran about whether he was evil or not? Wouldn’t that be more credible? Would you speak to a khalistani in Canada and let them speak about their opinion of Indian leaders in a similar way? Learn some basics of journalism. There’s still time

Khamenei was an evil man. The fact that he is dead, means a great day for us. Listen in to this expat Iranian woman. Some of our liberal left, feminist crusaders also need to listen to this Iranian woman.

@MattooShashank He is not an ayatollah. Perhaps do some basic reading before becoming a foreign policy expert and tweeting on everything compulsively. Dont think HT or any other Indian newspaper encourages it. But it might just do you some good.

@Zakka_Jacob Zakka you will remain a third rate chor of a journalist. You have shamelessly lifted stuff reported by FT and NYT and passing it off as your own reporting. At least could have critically looked at it. So shameful! 🤮

For years now, CIA and Mossad had been tracking Iran's Supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei using traffic camera surveillance. They tracked drivers, helpers and other personal staff. But on Saturday CIA did one better. They had a human source.

@anantgoenka @iyervaidy Who helped with bank accounts? Were fake beneficiaries added? And if that was the case how did it exactly happen? Government has been claiming that it has been cleaning up PM Kisan list since 2020 when first reports of fake beneficiaries started trickling in.

@sunetrac @LamaPrawesh Does anyone in the HT national or regional bureau know how many people have been arrested for this? Or is that not important to report? @HT_Ed can read the Hindu report on this for some guidance on basic journalism.

@Aakar__Patel @IndianExpress @htTweets @thewire_in You really expect @HT_Ed to stand up for his colleagues? He’s only interested in spiking stories and hating on reporters who come up with non-press release stories. So when his reporter gets summoned, its likely that he might ask police for their version and only publish that

Justice J.B. Pardiwala has been a breath of fresh air. Most of his judgments and orders, though can be criticised on merits, largely seem without fear or favour, true to the oath of office of a Supreme Court judge. The same holds true of Justice B.V. Nagarathna and Justice K.V Viswanathan too. All three future CJIs. Also, Justice Ujjal Bhuyan.
