When people no longer see a future in B.C., they leave. It is that simple. B.C. is now seeing the highest outflow of people since the 1990s, and once again, it is happening under an NDP government. What is even more alarming is that many of those leaving are from our younger generation. When young people feel they cannot build a future here, that should be a wake up call for all of us. #richmond #richmondcentre #bc #britishcolumbia #bcpoli

Have we told them before? Yes, we did. Have we warned them before? Yes, we did. And what did this NDP government say? They said B.C. is doing well. And now, another credit downgrade, after numerous downgrades over the past four years. This proves what we have been saying all along is correct. The BC Conservative Party has been raising the alarm about reckless spending, growing deficits, and the lack of a real plan. But this NDP government refuses to listen. #richmond #richmondcentre #bcpoli #britishcolumbia

B.C. lost 20,200 jobs in February, yet NDP Minister Ravi Kahlon stood in Question Period yesterday claiming B.C. is doing very well. I sometimes wonder if the NDP are living in a parallel universe. Last month’s budget added new taxes to many businesses and services, hurting small businesses and will damage our economy even further. #richmond #richmondcentre #bc #britishcolumbia #bcpoli

British Columbia is already facing one of the largest deficits in our history. Yet the NDP just created a $400 million fund controlled by cabinet. No clear rules. No clear criteria. The details will be decided later behind closed doors. Another $400 million cheque book, and taxpayers are simply told to trust them. #richmond #richmondcentre #britishcolumbiacanada #bc

Chinese language media has long been an important bridge in the Chinese Canadian community, delivering information, serving the public, and reflecting community voices. I was honoured to join BC Conservative Interim Leader Trevor Halford and Richmond Bridgeport MLA Teresa Wat in visiting several Chinese media outlets to exchange views on provincial issues and community concerns. Thank you to all Chinese language media for your continued service to the community and dedication to public affairs. #richmond #britishcolumbia #richmondcentre #bc #media @TrevHal @Teresa_Wat

To show how dysfunctional #bcleg has become, @TaraArmstrongBC introduces bill to close safe consumption sites - parties say fine, let it pass 1st reading procedurally. Instead of moving on, she calls division on herself to make everyone stand and vote one by one to try and put everyone in uncomfortable position of looking like they vote for the substance of her bill (which nobody has seen yet) vs the procedure of just letting it go on the order paper for first reading. Waste. Of. Time.

Hard to imagine that the largest hospital in B.C., Vancouver General Hospital, and the province’s only Level 1 trauma centre, now has to divert pregnant trauma patients due to an OB/GYN shortage. For a pregnant patient suffering severe trauma, this is the last situation anyone would want to face. And the NDP Health Minister continues to say the system is improving. Are they living in another world? #richmond #richmondcentre #bc #britishcolumbia #health

Heartbreaking to hear about the arson at Story Cafe in Richmond. This small business worked hard to open and made it through the difficult years of COVID, only to face something like this. This is the worst news any business owner could receive, especially during an economic downturn. Wishing them a speedy recovery, and I hope the RCMP can quickly find those responsible. Public safety must always be a priority. #richmond #richmondcentre #bc #britishcolumbia #publicsafety

Over the past two days, we have been pressing the minister and the Premier on the Musqueam title agreement. They repeatedly told us the provincial government had nothing to do with it. They even told us to ask our MPs instead. Now we learn the Premier actually attended the signing ceremony himself and claims he does not know the details of the event he was attending. You be the judge. I do not buy it. #richmond #britishcolumbia #richmondcentre #bc

Just hours after insisting Ottawa didn't brief him on fed-Musqueam agreement, hasn't seen it, and doesn't know what is in it, @Dave_Eby's office admits premier actually attended the Musqueam/Ottawa signing event in person in his riding. But says premier still unaware of contents
Rob Shaw@RobShaw_BC

.@Dave_Eby says BC was not briefed on Ottawa’s decision here, and province now has to engage with Feds to understand implications of move. Acknowledges comes at time of heightened anxiety for public on issue.

Today in the Legislature, MLA Larry Neufeld called for a full public inquiry into the tragedy in Tumbler Ridge. The people of Tumbler Ridge deserve honesty, not unanswered questions. Families are grieving. An entire community is hurting. People across British Columbia are struggling to understand what happened. We need a public inquiry to fully and transparently examine what happened: whether warning signs were missed, systems failed to connect, or tools that existed weren’t used. Tumbler Ridge should not be left with silence and uncertainty alongside their grief. They deserve clear answers about what happened.
