@DerekPederson3 @glencoe2004 Except, even with our current limited technology, the fastest human probe could make it there in 6600 years, not 1000000, which raises the question of why we don’t see von Neumann probes.

@Davidhetfield2 @TrentTelenko Yeah my main point is that the us military isnt "obsolete" just because its behind in one niche.also 10k drones have no way of stopping a b2 bomber using its maximum range.

@honouredone1237 @TrentTelenko A high end asset fills a gap left by a lower end assets, but doesn't necessarily replace it. A B2 bomber would be of much less use to ukraines frontlines than 10k drones.

This is the hardest truth.⬇️ The US military hasn’t the remotest clue how to use 10,000 drones a day and an institutional culture that will have to lose a war before it will give up its addiction to big/expensive/few platforms and “platinum bullets.”
Tymofiy Mylovanov@Mylovanov

Petraeus: The U.S. has not remotely learned the lessons it should from Ukraine. This is the future of war: Ukraine alone uses 10,000 drones a day, and 90% of Russian casualties are caused by drones. That should force institutional change. 1/

@mixcenturion I wonder how the modern us political system would respond to experiencing the weekly average military and civilian casualties they get

@shellyous It's bad parenting if u beat them, but u can help them explain why it's necessary to pray, it's a parents duty to teach the religion to their kids, unfortunately a lot of trauma comes from parents who won't do the explaining and resort to beating their kids

@mistevalis @USAMaritimeX Thats not how it works.american companies will get replaced by companies with much more government support as with countless other industries the us has lost that way.

@USAMaritimeX America will dominate because there will be a market with low barriers to entry for American companies. But you know this because you’re a cruel rent seeker who wants everyone to suffer for your personal handout.

The Jones Act is far from perfect, but it’s one of the only things keeping the remaining American Maritime industry alive. When people talk about repealing it with absolutely no alternative plan, it’s incredibly frustrating. It might solve a few problems short term, but it will just let the 🇺🇸 industry we have left slowly die, and then we may find ourselves back in the same WW1 shipping scenario that helped trigger the creation of the law. And there is room for discussion and change, but why don’t we come up with a plan that actually helps Americans keep their jobs or even grow the industry? With the recent Jones Act waivers, there was no attempt to even get foreign shipping companies to transfer more ships to the 🇺🇸 flag, hire any American crew, or even repair a commercial ship in a U.S. shipyard as a condition of receiving these waivers. So what are we doing? Are we trying to bring back American Maritime or just accelerate its decline? We need better maritime policy, and SHIPS for America would be a step in the right direction. But I also think we need a lot more than just that.

The Hormuz Letter
The Hormuz Letter@HormuzLetter·
BREAKING: Iran is rebuilding its military industrial bases much faster than expected and has already restarted its entire drone production line during the ceasefire, producing hundreds a day. Two-thirds of all missile launchers are now operational, with Russia and China actively providing major new support including missile and drone components, per CNN. The Iranians have "exceeded all timelines the US had for reconstitution," a US military official said. Iran has also moved a large number of new mobile launchers across the country and kept its coastal cruise missiles largely intact, preserving the ability to strike ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
