@hotpockerr @radiodraude @RealJordanC @JomboyMedia The point that anti-rules crowds need to remember:
They are there to dictate *how* you get a player out. If you decide to run directly behind a player, and throw the ball *that* late, it doesn't matter *if* you try to get out of the way. You're in the way.
English

@UeckerMagic @jugmano @JomboyMedia Yeah I like the rules, my discussion is on what the ruling should be based off the literal rules. I have no interest in talking about whether rules or valid or not, so I will end this thread here.
English

@hotpockerr @jugmano @JomboyMedia Yes I get that you are hiding behind the rules. I DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE RULES. I care that the product doesn't become the NBA
Stop hiding behind the rules
English

@UeckerMagic @jugmano @JomboyMedia No im saying intentional or not the rules would indicate a clear path is needed which wasn’t there. You’re argument is rules are dumb. If it was flopping there needs to be a clear rule about it. “No one cares if he’s in the lane” that’s literally how baseball works
English

@hotpockerr @jugmano @JomboyMedia Stop. Randy flipped. You are refusing to accept that because it blows up your argument. Nobody cares if Vinny was in the lane. Randy's solution is not a solution the fans accept. Don't defend it. It's bad for baseball
English

@_sullivan0_ @MJ_Melendezz @JomboyMedia If you don’t have the ball, you can’t be in the lane no matter the situation. If he was a step away from Randy why not tag him? In a rundown situation the runner should be turning as soon as they see the ball leave the fielders hand, you learn that in youth ball.
English

@hotpockerr @MJ_Melendezz @JomboyMedia You mean the step Vinnie was already taking before he tossed the ball? How dare he not contort himself because Randy decided at that moment to run back toward first
English

@Dak9991023 @RealJordanC @JomboyMedia I agree. Randy was desperate and likely wanted to make some sort of contact. Vinny should’ve just placed the tag with how close he was already. Both made mistakes here but Randy’s initial one deserved an out.
English

@hotpockerr @RealJordanC @JomboyMedia I think both can be true I mean arozdrena literally looks like he is shoulder checking in frame by frame not bracivng for impact yet looking for to initiate it which with how vinnies last stride where he released the ball take him more towards Randy. Fair call
English

@BAYCBoshi @MJ_Melendezz @JomboyMedia Randy 100% deserved to be out, but I don’t think he baited obstruction but he probably played into the fact the fielder was in his way after throwing the ball. Vinny is directly blocking Randy’s lane. He threw the ball, Randy switches directions and makes contact immediately.
English

@MJ_Melendezz @hotpockerr @JomboyMedia Mariners fan and it was just stupid by Arozarena. You can't bait an obstruction. It's crazy how he can try to make that kind of heads up play but not remember the fucking count. We are such a poorly coached team.
English

@UeckerMagic @jugmano @JomboyMedia I’m technical and want a clear distinction between rules. I believe Randy should have been out in this situation, but the fielder made a mistake and stayed in the lane after throwing the ball. Randy capitalized on it. If he truly “flopped” then just make a eule against it.
English

@hotpockerr @jugmano @JomboyMedia "according to the rules" is how the NBA and soccer for into their mess with flopping. Everyone knows what's happening but "OMG THE RULES"
Can't let that happen to baseball. Stop it.
English

@UeckerMagic @jugmano @JomboyMedia Can’t speak to intentionality or not, the fielder was blocking the lane without holding the ball. Whether or not it was Randy’s intention to run into him, Vinny was in the way. There was no other route.
English

@hotpockerr @jugmano @JomboyMedia Look at Randy's eyes. He intended to run into him. Turang did the same thing a couple weeks ago and it pissed me off
Randy 100% intentionally ran into him. I don't care about anything else. That's a flop and it's bullshit
English

@radiodraude @RealJordanC @JomboyMedia Exactly. He didn’t have the ball he needs to be out of the lane
English

@hotpockerr @RealJordanC @JomboyMedia Obstruction doesn't have to be intentional. The Fielder is no longer making a play and they collide. It's on the fielder and it's obstruction.
English

@MJ_Melendezz @JomboyMedia He definitely tries to move out the way but he did so late. if you watch again he takes a pretty long step towards Randy after throwing the ball. Randy definitely deserve to be out of that situation but if we’re going by the rules, I truly don’t think he had a lane back to first
English

@hotpockerr @JomboyMedia From what I see Vinnie immediately tries to avoid and Randy moves backwards like he’s trying to engage contact. I guess we will never know if he was or wasn’t trying to do so. I don’t know why Vinnie didn’t just run at him
English

@MJ_Melendezz @JomboyMedia I just can’t call it a flop if Randy doesn’t even have to take a STEP to make that kinda contact with Vinny. Even if it was intentional, I don’t think it was avoidable.
English

@MJ_Melendezz @JomboyMedia Vinny steps towards Randy after the throw, the throw was within tagging distance so they’re already close. When the ball is thrown you change directions immediately, and Vinny is directly in his way. I don’t know why he throws the ball in that situation, the tag was right there
English

@UeckerMagic @jugmano @JomboyMedia He’s in a pickle, the first basemen takes a large step towards the runner after the throw (which was within tagging distance) and is obstructing the lane without possession of the ball. Look, he should be out, but the first baseman misplayed and obstructed according to the rules
English

@hotpockerr @jugmano @JomboyMedia Found the SGA fan. No flopping. The offense can't obstruct themselves
He's out.
English

@Mcbod93 @JomboyMedia Obstruction is obstruction no matter how “out” the person is. That’s just baseball.
English

@hotpockerr @JomboyMedia You’re insane if you want him to somehow be safe after this 😅
English

@RealJordanC @JomboyMedia No, he threw the ball within tagging distance and takes another step towards him. He was directly behind Randy when he changed direction. Randy doesn’t jump, in fact he doesn’t even take a step he just shifts towards 1st and makes contact because vinny is still moving towards him

English

@hotpockerr @JomboyMedia He straight up jumped into Vinny to try to get a call
English

I'm not trying to defend the error but why is everyone saying it was costly
Daniel Kramer@DKramer_
FINAL: Mariners 2, Royals 3 RECORD: 16-18 Emerson Hancock K’d a career-high 14, but a brutal baserunning blunder from Randy Arozarena, an uncharacteristic error from Julio Rodríguez and a blown save from Andrés Muñoz loomed large.
English

@jugmano @JomboyMedia Not flopping, whether he fell or not it was obstruction
English
