This photo was taken in 1997 in Poland while I was spelunking. Take a look at my blurb today if you have time. It's about diminishing fear by assessing your risks. And please continue to think about our troops. Happy Wednesday, everyone.

An Afghan woman was raped. Because her attacker was married, she was jailed for “adultery.” She gave birth in prison. Then agreed to marry him— for her daughter’s survival. I can't even begin to make sense of this. 🤦🏽‍♂️

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Two new statues, “Jesus Christ Carrying the Cross” and “Jesus Christ in Gethsemane,” have debuted on the south side of the Salt Lake Temple. Visitors can view the statues from a distance as the statues are in an area of Temple Square still under construction.  Their placement comes at a meaningful time of year, the Easter season, which holds profound significance for Christians around the world as they commemorate the final week of Jesus Christ's life, culminating in His Resurrection. @DiscipleFidei Meanwhile almost 100,000 missionaries around the world start out with "in the spring of 1820 a young boy named Joseph Smith...." What an absurdly dumb post.

@carbonmfg @NotBlindfolded The point is to move forward. I'd rather be part of that moving forward, than expecting some weird scrupulosity. 3/

@carbonmfg @NotBlindfolded have to explain to kids, I genuinely don't care about the past. I am not marrying the past person. I am marrying the new person. IF she felt the need to talk about things because it helps her progress and get over her past, that's fine. But ultimately, I don't care. 2/

My wife was formerly promiscuous. I was a virgin. She was then radically born-again. Committed to church, evangelized constantly, Puritan books in her bedroom, prayer journals, grief over past sexual sin, etc. We got to know each other well for over a year, dated for four months, engaged for two and a half, and didn't sin sexually with one another. Our first kiss with each other was at the altar on our wedding day (reaction pic attached!). We've been married for over five years now, and she's been the most wonderful and godly wife, mother to our three children, and homemaker you could imagine. She's more pure than most virgins, as biblical purity has less to with past sins (though they certainly matter) and more to do with one's current posture of the heart and daily decisions to honor the Lord (Matt. 5:8). We're far too quick to forget the story of the woman labeled as a known "sinner" (likely a prostitute) in Luke 7:36-50 who was washing Jesus' feet with her tears while kissing them too. The Pharisees were shocked that Jesus let a public sinner do this. Jesus responded with a parable about debts being forgiven and ended with this powerful conclusion: "Her many sins have been forgiven; that’s why she loved much. But the one who is forgiven little, loves little" (Luke 7:47). Everyone seems to highlight the benefits of virginity, and it certainly is a blessing. But we forget to highlight the benefits of being forgiven much as well. My wife knows the depths of Jesus' forgiveness more than most people, enabling her to more easily live out a life of passionate love for her Savior. A woman or man's past sexual sin matters. But what matters far more when it comes to deciding who to marry is if the person is truly born again, if their repentance is real, if they truly have a heart for Christ, if they truly follow Jesus and obey his commands. "God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong. God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world — what is viewed as nothing — to bring to nothing what is viewed as something, so that no one may boast in his presence. It is from him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us — our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, — in order that, as it is written: 'Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.'" (1 Cor. 1:27-31) "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!" (2 Cor. 5:17)

The Quorum of the Firsr Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve don't use a majority voting system. It's all or nothing. Many years ago, I sat in a leadership meeting in the Oakland Interstake Center where we were taught that bishoprics and quorum presidencies should function like the two governing quorums of the Church. Unless unanimity is achieved through 100% confirmation by the Holy Ghost, the subject is either dropped or tabled. “What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, and I excuse not myself; and though the heavens and the earth pass away, my word shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled, whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same.” When either of these two quorums make a decision, it is the mind and will of the Lord. I've taken the approach to seek my own confirmation from the Holy Ghost. Sometimes, like the recent change to Sunday School presidencies, that confirmation is immediate. Other times, I need to retire to my bedroom or go to the temple to offer a prayer to get my own confirmation. I've also learned it is spiritually damaging to criticize their inspired direction. It's a self-inflicted shot in the foot to criticize. Instead, seeking personal understanding has been the most helpful for me, and to avoid criticism during my search for understanding. President Russell M. Nelson warned, "In coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost."

This is one of the worst downgrades of all time Old London Bridge was a medieval stone structure that stood for over 600 years and was once considered a wonder of the world. It was 926 feet long and filled with houses and shops, making it the longest inhabited bridge in Europe

President Russel M Nelson "Jesus Christ took upon Himself your sins, your pains, your heartaches, and your infirmities. You do not have to bear them alone! He will forgive you as you repent. He will bless you with what you need. He will heal your wounded soul. As you yoke yourself to Him, your burdens will feel lighter. If you will make and keep covenants to follow Jesus Christ, you will find that the painful moments of your life are temporary. Your afflictions will be ‘swallowed up in the joy of Christ’"
