@VeryBadSCAVR It would never had been made if it were to be attempted in the US
English

This is a interesting korean article about crimson desert..
*The paradox of 'Crimson Desert,' which would have been praised if it were made in the US*
globale.co.kr/news/articleVi…
Basically criticizing Western critics for applying double standards to Korean games like Crimson Desert, praising similar Western titles while dismissing Korean ones
as derivative or overly commercial - despite massive sales
Similar examples mentioned were 'Lies of P' or 'Steller Blade'
What do you think?

English

@VeryBadSCAVR It's similar to the Western worldview versus that of the Global South and other parts of the world. The Western world still thinks it is 'top dog', but it is clearly not.

@real_lord_miles Money clips isn't a thing in Europe ?! If your not GenZ you will probably have one

I’ll tell you guys a life hack if you’re single.
Carry a $1,000 in cash in your wallet. Everyone typically has $1,000 in their bank, it’s not impressive, but in cash? WHOA! brain goes wow!
Pull it out in front of a cashier, pull off a money clip (this is one of mine) and ask if they take cash. If not, they saw the cash.
Because I travel a lot. I always carry $1,000, £500 and €500 in cash wherever I go at the very least, it solves a lot of problems

English

@fandompulse It’s always a good sign when the actors are too stupid to finish the source material.

Neuromancer actress Emma Laird shares new details about the Apple TV series:
"I read half the book, and they’ve managed to capture what is in the source material really, really well. There are a lot of characters. It’s very complex. It’s a very confusing book, but I think somehow bringing that onto the screen helps tell that story maybe a bit more clearly.
The costume is insane. The hair and makeup is crazy. It was real character [acting], as was Danny Boyle’s film. What we’ve made is really grounded and a drama; these other ones are just a bit more mad and very much character acting for those two projects.
The lights and the language and the food, the culture in Japan, it was one of my most memorable experiences because it is just a culture like no other. That is a huge theme and a huge part of Neuromancer in the books, as well. So, yeah, it’s a very important part of it. I don’t think it would have quite been the same if we’d done it all on a stage in London, so it’s great that Apple had the money to send everyone there."
Do you think they will be true to the source material?

English

@fandompulse "Neuromancer actress Emma Laird"
Actress? Never even knew there was a movie or TV series adaptation of this. I know there's an old Neuromancer computer adventure game (which was great, btw).

@Andena_Neudenk @WolfDesNordens Miete 550. Kalt? In welchem Keller?
Deutsch

@WolfDesNordens Naja.
Rechnen wir mal:
Mindestlohn 13,90 €
Bruttolohn 2.407 €
Nettolohn 1.711 € alleinstehend ohne Kinder
Miete 550 € Lebenshaltung 600 € Tralala 250 €
Bleiben locker 300 € übrig.
Deutsch

The Artemis II crew captured beautiful, high-resolution images of our home planet during their journey to the Moon. As @Astro_Christina put it: "You guys look great."

for $2000 you can buy 10 polaroid cameras and 1000 shots of instant film and just hand them out to your guests and have an infinitely better and more quirky set of wedding photos than what youd get from a failed art student who just uses lightroom presets

@DedosSalchichas @ChrisMartzWX Multiplanetary system.
Multistar system.
Different context.
Dansk

@ChrisMartzWX It annoys me when people call other star systems "solar systems."
English

Kind of dumb to post this.
The moon does has a name.
It’s “Luna.”
All of the planets are named after Roman gods (except Uranus). Earth is “Terra.” So, the moon and sun also have Latin names, “Luna” and “Sol,” respectfully.
We usually call Earth’s moon “the moon” because it was the only known moon until 1610.
doomer@uncledoomer
kind of narcissistic to call our moon "the moon" no? theres lots of moons all over the solar system. why is our moon "the moon" when trillions of other moons could be "the moon"?
English

@JeffNor50595241 @DedosSalchichas @ChrisMartzWX Stellar systems are collections of moving stars influenced by their mutual gravitational potential, typically modelled by the Vlasov-Poisson system.

@SarahisCensored My wife watched and said she doesn’t understand why we need to go to the moon again.
She looked it up that our gov’t contributed $4bil of tax payer funds to this. To which she replied that the money could be spent on more important things, closer to home.

I’m so glad the BBC sent her to be the reporter on this! She appreciated every moment of the #Artemis launch so much!! 🚀

This is the shot you can’t get from the press site. This camera was sitting a few football fields from the SLS rocket at Pad 39B for days before launch, baking in the Florida sun, surviving rain, humidity, and whatever else the Cape threw at it. No photographer behind the viewfinder. Just a camera, a sound trigger, and a bet.
The way pad remotes work: you set your camera up days in advance, dial in your composition, lock everything down, and walk away. You don’t touch it again until after the launch. The shutter fires on sound activation
with a @MiopsTrigger smart+ trigger. With SLS, the four RS-25 engines ignite six seconds before the solid rocket boosters, so the camera is already firing before the vehicle even leaves the pad. You get home, pull the card, and find out if you nailed it or if a bird landed on your lens two days ago and left your a present and you got 400 photos of soemthing crappy.
There’s no formula for protecting your gear this close. Some photographers build wooden boxes with doors that pop open. Some use plastic bags and tape. Some do plastic or metal barn door rigs on hinges. I tend to leave mine open just in plastic rain covers because boxes limit my composition and setup time, but that means your cameras are more exposed to the elements and whatever energy and debris comes off the pad. You’re basically gambling a camera body every time you set one.
That’s what I love about this genre. There’s no playbook. You make it up as you go. Every time is an adventure.

@darthnugget @Mikeggibbs Mindell. Digital Apollo.
There is still a generational divide between traditional pilots and 'modern' astronauts. Therefore, I would assume that the Artemis cockpit is more pilot-oriented, and I hope that NASA has learned something from Apollo 11 and Apollo 13.🤞🏻
English

@Mikeggibbs Better question is who beadazzled the displays and how many tax payer dollars did it cost?
