As a @Rocket_Pool node operator myself, we need a more open conversation about how "easy it is to run a node". The main reason it is easy for folks is because they are running the software stack that @jcrtp_eth updates religiously. How decentralized is that really?

Lido's biz model is to convince the world that staking is risky/complex/expensive/time consuming. It's not. Similar to TurboTax lobbying to keep taxes complex, Lido has an incentive to promote barriers to entry for staking.

@benjaminion_xyz I spend ~15 minutes every two weeks updating Ubuntu and my Rocket Pool stack. That's not time consuming at all in my book.

I hate these "if they value their time at zero" arguments. They are coherent only if we also value any knowledge gained or pleasure experienced at zero. And if we apply that measure to our lives we might as well give up being human.

@Blulinski @benjaminion_xyz @RP_Intern No, it's not about performance, it's about cost. I.e. solo stakers can only ever be considered profitable if they value their time & effort at zero.

Is solo staking "economically rational"? Yes, of course. Because we understand that without an army of solo stakers the value of Ethereum is basically zero.
