Hi @erikeidissen are you the guy for @WSOP PoY?
Sorry, something is wrong with the calcs.
Person details & calculator numbers sometimes differ.
Are either even correct?
Many (all?) in Events 1 & 46 (250K) for example.
Please find out what is going on.

English

@Kevmath @WSOP @BennyGlaser Oh dear, I really don't want to do this.
But it needs to be right.
I looked some more.
And found that results shown for people sometimes don't even match the @WSOP calculator.
But sometimes they do.
Eg Winner of #1 (>100 diff!)
There are many more.
Which is right - or neither?

English

@Kevmath @WSOP @BennyGlaser Most worrying from the PoY point of view is that for a good while they clearly had partial results for Event 56 - at least Bohlman's in, but Glaser's not.
It was noticeable as the missing score was big, but who knows what smaller scores might be missing or wrongly calculated?
English

The most recent update to the @WSOP Player of the Year standings has @BennyGlaser leading by just 40 points over Scott Bohlman.
You can now click on a player’s name and see the points they’ve earned in each event. 👏👏👏

I’m not sure who’s responsible for updating the @WSOP Player of the Year standings this year, but it would be nice if they decided to update it a bit more frequently.
@BennyGlaser has THREE Bracelet wins, he is NOT THIRD in the standings!

@glastonbury Hi.
Is there any chance of someone stuck in Israel being able to transfer their ticket to someone here?
English

DO NOT FALL VICTIM TO TICKET SCAMS
Following this month's sales, general admission tickets for Glastonbury 2025 are now completely Sold Out.
Those sales were handled exclusively by our official ticketing partner, See Tickets - which will also be the case for the official resale of any cancelled tickets in spring 2025.
A reminder that our general admission tickets (which all feature the photo of the authorised ticket-holder) are strictly non-transferrable, with thorough identification checks taking place at all entry points.
Tickets for crew, music industry and media are administered directly by the Festival and are never offered via third-party services, including so-called concierge services.
So if someone’s claiming — whether on social media or elsewhere — they can get you Glastonbury tickets and it’s not through See Tickets or directly from us, do not risk it!
Each year, we are made aware of people losing large sums of money on fake Glastonbury tickets. Please do not fall victim to these scams.

@WriterJen @BennyGlaser Hi. Here's the article, in case you haven't got a copy. I have a pdf version if you prefer - DM me.

In 2016, when he won 2 in a week, I interviewed @BennyGlaser for "Benny & the Bracelets: Persistence Pays Off" (website now gone). He still does the work - quietly, respectful of others & the game itself. This is the stuff of legends.
WSOP - World Series of Poker@WSOP
The Moment. @BennyGlaser defeats Schuyler Thornton to capture his THIRD bracelet of the summer and becomes the 7th person EVER to win 8 or more WSOP bracelets. #WSOP2025

@lescarr True. (Or Bing or whatever)
But the user doesn't see the outputs driving revenue for Google so much, if at all.
English

@hughglaser But actually he’s driving more use of Google - behind the scenes.
English

I’ve hugely benefited from @simonw’s Substack post on AI assisted search today - he really puts in the effort to report on techniques that work in practice. He is a critical but positive voice in AI that you can trust.

@lescarr "I can feel my usage of Google search taking a nosedive already. I expect a bumpy ride as a new economic model for the Web lurches into view." - well put!
English

@lescarr "I still don't trust them not to make mistakes, but I think I might trust them enough that I'll skip my own fact-checking for lower-stakes tasks." - nice.
English

@lescarr Nice.
Just for interest, was the Chat wrong in the same way as the manual, which would be pretty normal.
Maybe the manual was generated from ChatGPT? 😀
Unless the fault was with operator interpretation of course! 😉
English

@lescarr No idea - I just saw this, which is also science and performing.

@hughglaser I’ve heard about this place but never been. Is it nice?
English

Hey, @lescarr , ever performed here? You should, clearly.

@lescarr Ah.
Yes, only used "summaries" once so far.
I'm too anally retentive to let something get between me and the original text. :-)
English

@hughglaser Yes, yes, no! The ”summaries” or “advice” is too regressive for my taste or my use.
English

Despite all the investment and the promise of imminent revolution, we’re still all struggling to get good value out of AI.

English

@lescarr Do you still use old-fashioned search engines?
Or "man" or dictionaries or even other documentation or whatever?
And don't you consult ChatGPT before doing many things, so you will be warned of the snafus and "unknown unknowns" if there are any?
English

@lescarr I'm genuinely puzzled by this.
It may mean that you think that "AI" is actually AI, and so expect to get what you expect AI to do out of it.
For me, ChatGPT just does what it does, and I am very grateful, and willing to pay for it.
Very rare me paying for non-OS stuff too!
