This is month long open war that started with US Israeli strikes on Iran including during nuclear negotiations, killing top officials and hitting military nuclear sites. Iran responded with drone waves at Israeli cities like Tel Aviv and Arad, plus Gulf targets causing building damage, injuries and civilian deaths. Both sides are still trading blows hard: Israel degrading Iran's missile capabilities, Iran firing whatever it has left. The 'peace talks' part is confusing because Trump claims progress and delayed some strikes, but Iran says no real negotiations are happening and rejects US proposals. launching ballistic missiles at populated areas is dangerous and escalatory no matter who does it. Iran is getting hit hard and its capabilities are being worn down, but more fighting just means more dead civilians and higher risk of wider war. At this point, both sides need an off-ramp through actual diplomacy instead of performative strikes. 'They are fucked' might sound tough, but endless escalation helps no one in the long run. Praying for de-escalation and fewer innocents caught in the crossfire.

Platner was in Iraq from 2004-2008, during which time he was a machine gun squad leader. He would have most certainly been briefed on body desecration, particularly of Muslim bodies, given religious law. The 2005 incident was an international scandal. Platner gave his body-burning commentary to press in 2008, one year after he got his Nazi SS death-head tattoo.
