@MarioNawfal “A model trained on everything that already exists cannot, by definition, produce something genuinely unexpected” It's *circular*, not “precise”. Nothing can train on things that “don't exist”, including humans. We don't train on data alone, but on process. AI will do this too.

The CEO of Take-Two, the company behind GTA, just said something the entire AI industry doesn't want to hear. And he said it without being anti-AI. Strauss Zelnick's argument is precise. AI is built on datasets. Datasets are backward-looking. Creativity is forward-looking. A model trained on everything that already exists cannot, by definition, produce something genuinely unexpected. And all hits, by their very nature, are unexpected. Asset creation and hit creation are not the same thing. AI is getting very good at the first one. The second one is what actually makes money, builds franchises, and changes culture. Nobody has shown AI can do that yet. The derivative property problem is real. You can clone GTA with existing technology. You could do it before AI. It would take 3 years and look identical. It still wouldn't sell. Because it isn't GTA. It's a clone of GTA. And consumers, despite what the industry occasionally pretends, can feel the difference between something genuinely new and something assembled from the residue of things that already worked. Thousands of mobile games ship every year. 0 to 5 hits get made. The same studios make them every time. The technology to make more games has been commoditized for years. It didn't democratize hit creation. It just flooded the market with more forgettable product. The Silicon Valley thesis that AI unlocks game creation for everyone is true in the same way that cheap cameras unlocked filmmaking for everyone. They did. And the same 5 studios still make the movies everyone watches. What Zelnick is saying, without quite saying it, is that the thing AI cannot replicate is taste. The instinct for what hasn't been done yet. The cultural antenna that detects the gap in the market before the data can see it. Data tells you what people wanted. Hits tell people what they want next. Those are different jobs.
Mario Nawfal@MarioNawfal

🇺🇸 Tucker lays out the deepest critique of AI yet, and it's not about jobs... His argument: writing produces thinking. You can't formulate a thought without first articulating it. If kids never write because AI writes for them, the quality of human thinking collapses. That's the surface problem. The deeper one is purpose: "The point of living is to create. That's the point of being a human being. It's necessary for joy. There is no joy without creation." If the machine creates everything and humans just consume, you don't get utopia. You get despair, mass unemployment, and eventually political revolution.

@boomer_btc @BTC_JEDI21 @grok Compute still occupies space, and even if we have endless space, any compute that is outside the bounds of communication, with respect to the average 10min block time, is useless. PoW is limited one way or another.

I've explored this topic in detail, it is basically what happens as civilization reached a Kardeshev Type I society. At the point that energy is free, compute also becomes essentially free, and PoW will fail to be a reliable technique to secure the network. The good news is that this is at least several centuries away.

@foolrushingin There is no number you can multiply by zero to get 2,309 or 75,629 (100000% of zero is zero). So percentages are calculated from arbitrary "initial price".

I noticed something weird and I wonder if someone who understands maths way better than me can explain it to me. How come Ethereum at the price of $2309 can be u 63K% from when it started and bitcoin at $75,629 is only up 9.7 K %. These are screenshots from Coinbase and I have to say I'm a little confused as I assume they're both started from zero .

The writing's on the wall now: There will be no Muslims or people from MENA in Europe or most other Western countries by 2050, 2060 some time. These people vastly underestimate the amount of organized, large-scale, industrial violence that Europeans are capable of when they genuinely decide they are threatened, and it's coming to that point rapidly. In all conflicts where push has actually come to shove, Europeans have a K:D ratio of 20:1 or more against other lineages. The one remaining question is how peacefully Muslims and MENA people will decide to leave when told to do so. I don't think they realize what's coming. Neither do many Europeans who aren't having their ears to the ground.

Of course you could have done this before - but not within your existing sessions (with all your logins etc.) unless you installed a custom extension or whatever. It just works now. (Well, actually it doesn't with the official MCP client if you have hundreds of tabs. I wrote a skill that sidesteps it, and is a bit clever about managing your agent's permissions to tabs: github.com/pasky/chrome-c…)

It took another two months but Chrome 146 is out since yesterday! And *that* means: with a single toggle, you can expose your current live browsing session via MCP and have your CLI agent do things in it. Aaand I have been waiting to deal with my LI connects until this moment.

Official Chrome MCP support is coming? I should be able to just `amp mcp add chrome-devtools -- npx chrome-devtools-mcp@latest --autoConnect` and let Claude browse on my behalf, within my login sessions. Chrome 144 required, it is in "early stable" mode and aiui will get general release only next Wed.

@vponamariov Your post says "sticky header" but your images say "fixed header". Sticky and fixed are different values, and "sticky" fixes the issue you're having without "scroll-margin-top".

@Philip_DT @capital4646 @YIMBYLAND Why would you think that market forces driven primarily by profit maximization would result in optimal housing and living environments for humans? Highly naive assumption with extensive empirical evidence to the contrary.

@capital4646 @YIMBYLAND Thats because we're operating in a moment of scarcity not abundance. There is not infinite demand for studio apartments. There is just more than enough demand to make it unprofitable to build 3br. Once the supply catches up, the construction will shift.

Missing Family Housing "Missing-middle" is too vague. When we stopped building middle housing, we lost the housing that was most important for keeping families in our cities. If we want more children and families in the American City, we must return to building family housing.

Ok Sweden... CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! Very very impressive fundraiser in Poland this far indeed! Around 1,2 million Euros. I don't know of we are will be able to match this campaign, but I know that Sweden has REALLY delivered in previous campaigns, so Sweden lets show Poland which country is the best fundraising country in the World, they got ahead start, but we can give them a good game! Every single cent will go to generators for Ukraine this dire winter! Swish 123-169 24 17

Since the Cold War, successive US governments have gaslit Americans into thinking Europeans get free healthcare, free education and decent parental leave, while Americans don’t, because the US pays for Europe’s defence. It’s a myth that also helps them justify 750+ US bases worldwide. Europe spends $550bn a year on defence, more than China and Russia combined. Even without the US, Europe is the most heavily defended continent on Earth. US bases in Europe cost approx 3.5% of the US annual defence budget and deliver outsized strategic power. That isn’t charity. It’s central to US strategy.

The US spends twice as much as Europeans on healthcare for worse outcomes. And recent data indicate that about 27–28 % of U.S. adults reported skipping or delaying some form of medical care because they couldn’t afford it. I.e. they self-ration. If they didn't, cost would be even higher. Think about this when you consider how much the US spends on its military. The Pentagon is a black hole of corruption. If you assume that military spending correlates 1:1 with quality of outcome, you need a reality check. MAGA is about to FA and FO.
